So I was texting a buddy of mine the other week who said he ran into Randy Rahe and a tourney up in Idaho this last week and they were talking about Bolomboy. A few things I thought you guys might like to hear that I found interesting.

1st- Rahe told him that 6 or 7 NBA GM's have come and talked to Randy this summer about Bolomboy which I thought was pretty cool.

2nd- Bolomboy has put on some weight and muscle he is up to 235 lbs and he has also developed a nice little jump shot from what Randy has said.

3rd- Bolomboy's Mom is from Russia, and dad is from the Congo, but Bolomboy was born in Ukraine. It sounds like this summer he is heading to Ukraine to try out for the national team and Rahe seems to think he will make the team and get to play in the World Championships coming up.

Thought that was all pretty cool and hopefully with some luck and his development he can be our next Lillard to join the NBA.

He was definitely a beast the day I watched him. I don't think he is NBA ready right now, but by the time he graduates, sure. As long as he keeps improving like he has the last two years. He is the best big mam in the intermountain area right now. Like I have said before, we have had NBA scouts at every one of our games over the last 6 years, and that isn't ending any time soon. If a player wants to be seen, and be seen early in his college career, there is no better place than Weber State University. Sure, you can go to Florida State or USC, sit on the bench for 3 years, and maybe get seen as a senior. Or you can come to Weber, play sooner, and get seen sooner by pro scouts. Too many kids get those big stars in their eyes, just to ride the pine and hope for better days. :coffee:

Whether he makes the team or not, this is going to be a Huge learning experience for Joel. Great opportunity!

Joel and Dame playing on the same court would be special indeed.

WEber nation!

Stay safe Joel! I hope that the commercial airliner being shot down by a missile in the Ukraine today is not going to lead to more unrest and possible sanctions against the Ukraine.

From ESPN's Fraschilla:

@franfraschilla: Weber State's Joel Bolomboy is closing in on a spot on Mike Fratello's Ukraine Nat. Team for World Cup. Was born on Ukraine; grew up in DFW.

@WeberHQ: :,-( RT @BGarsideSE After going through Ukraine basketball site, it appears that Joel Bolomboy did not make the team. Looking to confirm.

I find that hard to believe, but after the plane disaster, I feel better about Joel just being in the US! :wtf:
