Bracket Projection From The Sports Network

Always like looking at this guys predictions don't necessarily like them all the time or agree, but if this one was the case of where we end up I would take it.

The top half is load in my opinion.

This looks thrown together with very little focus on anything but the potentially seeded teams. Lehigh will be a top 10 team with a play-in game to play the #1 seed in this scenario. The team that gets served the easiest play-in foe would be #4 Montana State with the Albany / Bethune-Cookman winner.

I hate seeing projections with this much football left to be played, but if you're going to make them, have them be a little more accurate.

No doubt. Hard to replace a legend like Roy Kidd.

I'll take all these Kentucky-EWU connections I can get, though :thumb:

I don't mind the early projections, they're kind of fun, but yes, this one has some issues.

For one, I don't see a second Southland or OVC getting in over SDSU right now.

Second, he has us as a #3 seed with NAU and Poly unseeded. It would be generous for him to assume we lose to Poly and Poly loses to NAU and NAU picks up a loss somewhere else so I'm guessing he has us running the table in this scenario. If that's the case, there's no way we should be seeded behind JMU. They have a weaker SOS (210 ranking versus our 143), and are ranked #10 and #6 behind our #2 ranking in both the Sagarin and GPI. The Big Sky is ranked ahead of the CAA in GPI and right on their heals in Sagarin making conference strength a push.

I'm guessing it's happened in the past, but how many times has a 10-1 team from a power conference had to go on the road in the playoffs? Lots of football left, but assuming we finish 10-1, we should be a lock for the #2 seed. So no...I would not take a #3 at this point.

All of this speculation may and most likely will be for naught as there is a lot of season left, but it is fun for now.
I like being in a bracket with JMU better than on a course to meet NDSU, but that may happen anyway if the season goes as expected for both teams.
Another part of the speculation is geography. I believe the selection committee considers geography when scheduling playoff. With just that point in mind, Sam Houston is considered a "western" team so would play either NAU or Cal Poly.
I just hope the players are not looking as far ahead as we are or we will not even be one of the top 4 seeds. Sac state has played very well here in the past. Cal-Poly is going to come in here with something to prove. Both tough games. SUU must have a new found confidence level after their big win last Saturday.
Whew, its getting fun now!!

I mostly agree. I still think NDSU is the best team in the country at this point so my assumption is they'd be the #1 seed, we would be the 2, and a JMU would have to travel here for the semi's. I think the matchups we want to avoid are NDSU, Wofford, and Georgia Southern. We got fortunate in 2010 with the upsets ahead of us in the playoffs.

And yes, it will be a blast to watch it all play out.

That bracket would set up well for us...but I don't really care who we face, I just hope we have a high seed, would love to see some of those teams come play on the Inferno, it would be awesome.

That game against Cal Poly is shaping up to be a huge game for seeding, and possibly via some tiebreaker, the conf champion. We both have tough road games this week, but it could be an epic game in Cheney in 2 weeks.

I could handle a Bethune-Cookman or Lehigh coming to Cheney. We gotta take care of business, one game at a time!

One thing that isn't noted... are these projections based on the team's current body of work, or are they projected end-of-season results?

How can anyone explain Central Arkansas opening at home and Wofford going on the road in round #2? What about Cal Poly even playing in round #1? I guess they can only be assuming UCA wins out while Wofford and Cal Poly each take some hits.

Projected end of season results, which change every week.

I think this assumes Cal Poly loses to both us and NAU, which would leave them with a 9-2 record but still in the playoffs.
