BracketBuster game in February...your comments

We are well into January, and the selections for BracketBusters are to be made by month end. The 'Cats have three games prior, at Portland and the away/home with Northern Colorado.

RPIForecast has teams ranked as to where they will be on Jan 31. Weber currently is ranked 174 with an RPI Forecast of .4931. We will be an away team for this year.

The two home teams closest to Weber's rank are:
Oral Roberts ranked 172 with RPI forecast of .4936 and
Siena ranked 175 with RPI forecast of .4923

Realizing things could change based on game results, do you see us playing either of these two? Which would you prefer?

(Kind of fun to conjecture who and where we might play.)

More details here: http://www.rpiforecast.com/bb.html

Last week's predictor, which is based solely on order of RPI teams, had you matched up with Western Michigan. That would be interesting, because I noticed a familiar face on the WMU bench when we played them in Logan:

Interesting, Larry Farmer

I would like a game vs Western Michigan, apparently we have played only once before which we won. And I think it would be sweet to see them in the Dee next season. Like us they are 9-7, and like us they won a dog fight with Idaho State 63-60 up in the Milk the Cow Classic in Logan.

This could be a really good matchup

I would like to see us play one of the WAC teams while they still are a conference.

I wouldnt mind playing teams like Boise, Idaho or Nevada again, for old times sake :D

i require that the game be in the bay area or within a 3 hr radius which means about 9 bracketbuster schools...please? :P

A west coast game would be nice this time of year. It might make a good roady. Who ever it is, I hope they are good, or at least have a good reputation. They will be a home game for us next year. Maybe we can turn it into a regular relationship. With the new rules on this thing, I'm glad we are doing it.

At a point a week or so ago, we were same RPI as Fresno State, which would be a good matchup. Does anyone know when the matchups are announced for sure?

For this Wildcat fan, I'll just be happy seeing the Cats play another DI opponent. Personally, I think Weber is under-rated right now. This team will only get better, as long as they can keep building their confidence and chemistry.

But Western Michigan would be Tits!! It would be hilarious seeing Larry back in the Dee. I'm sure we would be classy fans and welcome him back with a slight ovation. I'll bring a sign asking him "What did you do with the Mercedes?" that would be so Bobcatwaldocat!!

With the way that Weber played on Saturday was absolutely horrible... My little girl showed up at halftime and Weber pulled it out... She was the good luck of the game. Yee uh!
Weber better start to be a lot more impressive, because I can't bring my little one every game.

Sorry, it can't be Boise. Both Weber and Boise are in the "Away" teams list for BB.

If the premise is that teams should stay regional to lower travel, here is a list of schools and their Rank (as expected on 1-31) Note: Weber currently is rated #174 with RPI of .4931
#96 Long Beach State
#109 UC Santa Barbara
#140 New Mexico State
#183 Fresno State
#200 San Jose State
#205 Cal Poly
#227 Nevada
#284 UC Davis

If we were to travel toward the Midwest, Oral Roberts and MVC teams are possible.

Wish I had a crystal ball to figure this out

I'd like to play Cal Poly... For some reason, Weber and Cal Poly have never faced each other. In all likelihood, I bet Weber ends up in California, which wouldn't be a bad thing. All the teams listed above are beatable.

Catcat, depending on results this week, the rankings should be pretty well set. If the plan is to minimize travel, and ESPN looks at projected RPI, we are a match with San Jose State at .4819 vs .4820. Cal Poly, Fresno State and Nevada are also right below SJS in the projected RPI.

Will you be able to get to any of those sites?

Yes. That would be awesome. Nevada would be the best one. We could get a good crowd for the wolfpack next year. Coaches lunch is at noon today. We'll see if they have any more details.
