First, thanks to Bill for the plug of the website as well as asking the question of when Sacramento will support this program.

Leading Off: When will Sacramento start backing Hornets?
By Bill Bradley - [email protected]

Story appeared in SPORTS section, Page C1

Two weeks ago, after the Sacramento State football team's close loss at Colorado State, this editor received a ton of e-mail.

Some were glad to see coverage of the Hornets, including the big display photo. Others asked why we bother with so much local college football coverage when so few in our market care............

Thanks for the heads-up, SHA. It's great to see the Bee coverage pick up.

We knew there would be naysayers. However, I didn't expect MISINFORMED naysayers. Just check out this "comment" from someone going by the handle "sactoesquire."

stop the whining about the lack of support. Look at the facts man!! Sac State's football team is a lousy team that's not D1. You expect fans to come out and support a team that wins what..3-4 games a year!! The product is bad and you have zero hype/excitement. Look at the Kings, an NBA team, and the support for them has been dropping. Easy formula for success, you have to win consistently and not play in a JV league.

This ignoramus didn't even bother to check his facts before running his mouth. Lousy? Perhaps under Mooshagian. Did he even bother to notice that we have a new coaching staff? 3-4 wins? Did he bother to see that we ALREADY have two wins AND a winning record? Sure, it's still early. But it's early success that engenders later attendance (i.e. to see if the momentum will continue). He might also want to check our division classification. FCS IS D-I, dummy. It's NOT a JV league. Appy proved that last year, and New Hampshire proved it again this year.

It's publicity given to folk like that that perpetually keeps us down. Hopefully, this year, the Bee will turn a deaf ear to these idiots and disseminate positive coverage for this up-and-coming team.

Thanks again for grabbing this for us, SHA.

Some of the comments to the article were very offensive, they were filled with hate and anger. I dont know where these people are coming from, it seems as though the Sac State articles are the only ones getting these types of posts. The ucd articles have NO comments on them, is this because these are ucd people posting? :x

Well I guess we know what to do when the davis articles appear!

Is there any way to tell if SacBuzz.com or SacRat's Blog have received any kind of uptick in their readership since Bradley's blurb and the mentions on the radio broadcasts?

Bradley, Keep up the coverage in the Bee and you will see more interest. Just like the comment I posted regarding Schumacher's last article on sacbee.com.

Anyone calling themselves "sactoesquire" is highly suspect. Isn't an esquire a nobility title used in England? Dude, 1) we are Americans & 2) we are Hornets, and you sound like a hater. Do me a favor "sactoesquire" don't come on here bashing us. Go back to playing D&D.

Go Hornets!

Hornut: the dude is probably either a young HS type with pretensions but no desire to do any research or an attorney. The term comes from someone serving an apprenticeship prior to becoming a knight but was by no means necessarily a noble. Attorneys co-opted the term somewhere along the line to distinguish themselves from the rest of the populace.

That said, I agree that anyone co-opting that term as a handle IS highly suspect.

I hope it is Graswich because I detest that guy. Respectfully, Graswich is not pithy; he is more petty and contentious. Graswich go back to the Bay Area if you do not like Sac or the Hornets!
