• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.
  • Hi Guest, want to participate in the discussions, keep track of read/unread posts and more? Create your free account and increase the benefits of your eGriz.com experience today!
  • Guest, do want an ad free experience on BigSkyFans.com among other benefits? Upgrade your account today!

Simply click your profile name > account upgrades > BigSky Club > choose between the year long subscription (two free months) or month to month

Thanks for the continued support. Cheers!

Weber fans,

I'm taking over the Weber State beat at the Standard-Examiner. I first want to invite you all to follow me on Twitter https://twitter.com/BGarsideSE and like my professional page on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BrandonGarsideSE.

Secondly, I'd like to get feedback and ideas from you about what you would like to see from me. I plan on writing a blog on the side documenting behind the scenes and experiences I have covering the Wildcats, and being as interactive as I can. What do you want to see from the beat reporter?

Thanks for the feedback.

Welcome, with limited sports info to report on during the summer it would be nice to have a football "meet the team" type weekly write up. Example, one week could be the HC, OC, and DC. Week 2 could be the QB Coach and the QB's. Week 3 RB Coach and RB's, etc.

I agree, I especially am interested in Braxton and Jefferson. Sneak some video of Braxton & Joel going head to head.

There seems to be a lot of interest in this years basketball recruits! It would be great to learn more about how their progressing.

Welcome, Brandon!
My only request is that you don't do what Roy Burton did. No need to spam up the fan forum, shamelessly plugging every single published word. If your content is good (and I'm sure it will be), trust me, the folks on this forum will find it, talk about it and share it.

Thanks, and good luck!

Gee, I enjoyed it all being in one place and not having to look for it. I thought the one stop shopping is one of the many things he did great! Different perspective, but hate to complain when someone is making my life easier!

Agreed, the posts by Roy were relevant and I didn't mind one bit. Maybe though instead of starting a new topic for each article you have a open Standard Examiner topic for basketball and football that you can post links to your online content whenever new info is available. Hawks can just ignore that topic...

I like that idea. Have a string that is just for your articles and blogs. You are also welcome to participate in any of the conversations that interest you. I'm not saying that you must become as big a fan as some of us, but becoming very familiar with the program will help you to be successful at your job.

In SLC, the Trib makes no bones about being Ute homers and likewise, the Des News is a total BYU homer. For some reason, in the past, SE has seemed to shy away from promoting their own community. It has been hard for many of us to understand. I think that there was an attempt to be more than a local paper and in doing so, the paper tried to distance itself from the local community. The SE seems to be coming back to the community now and I welcome it. :thumb: :thumb:

I love the idea of having a dedicated SE thread.

On a non-basketball SE note
I have seen the SE further distance itself from the local community. The SE is still distancing itself from the Weber County demographic. As a Weber County business owner, it has really bothered me to be told by the SE that they focusing their efforts in the Davis County area. Some of the events that Weber County businesses have sponsored have been moved to Davis County. There are many great things happening in Ogden right now, too bad we are missing the support of our local paper.
