BSC meetings and new schedule plans

The Big Sky is meeting in SLC and plans for the expanded schedule for basketball is on the agenda. Interesting notes from the article:
- 10 conference home games
- redone conference tournament, possibly including 8 or all 11 teams
- having to play on the road lowers RPI (glad they recognize this)
- neutral site conference tourney looks like it is back-burnered, too many downsides, not enough up.

Good article and recap.

Nice find Heyoh!!!

I liked Rahe's quotes. As for playing on the road, one thing I've noticed, especially when playing at bigger venues, that the officiating isn't the fairest. I don't mind tournaments, especially at a neutral court, it seemed that the best officiating I saw this year, was in Alaska.

As for the end of season conference tournament, I think the Regular Season winner should host and that it should go to an 8 team format.

8 team tourney sounds pretty cool since we will have 11 teams. i liked the current format of 6 of 9 better than before unc joined when it was 6 of 8. there really is no point in having all 11 in the tourney unless it is at a neutral site which i dont see changing.

so would it be...

quarterfinal
1 vs 8
2 vs 7
3 vs 6
4 vs 5

then semifinal and final

the only difference other than 2 more teams in is the top 2 seeds play in the quarterfinal instead of the bye.

Thx, Tal. Funny, but some of the officials that did our games in Alaska were from Arizona, so they must have to cast a pretty wide net to get any coverage.
Wasn't the Big Sky ref I think named Casas (sp?) in Alaska too? He did us no favors in most games.

Casas!! YIKES!! Definitely the worst or the worst. If the game is on a neutral court, and he is with officials from other conferences, he is a bit more fair, but you could tell that he was trying to get a spot in the PAC-12 with his performance at Utah and Oregon. Talk about awful!! He should be fired from the Big Sky for his one-sided performances.
