Cue the Bill Schonely “you’ve got to make your free throws” sound bite. What others have noticed was an issue today. That really was the difference today.

Unfortunate... because the Viks have a core of players who contribute, are learning to be a team, have a fairly smart defense, and a win against a recent two-time national finalist would have been a damn good win.

Man, so close to a win today. My daughter and I headed down and picked up a couple of 300 level session tickets for today, sat in the low 200 section, scanned ourselves out and sold the tickets to a scalper for the Duke/Texas game. Worked out pretty well.

We were off today. A bit sloppy, only played eight guys, but we had the ball to win the game at the end.

Some thoughts:

- I really like the call by Peery to go for the win (three) at the end. Farris being out was pretty big, and depth was an issue today. Lot of minutes played by some guys (35 for Woods, 29 for North, 33 for Mayhew, and 38 for Canda) today.

- Quite a few instances of guys for Butler driving right through the lane to the bucket with nobody helping out.

- Free throws. Ugh. We can’t go 9-16 in a close game. At least North knocked some down.

- Late second half defensive pressure by us was awesome. Butler seemed to just be content with killing clock versus risking the turnover.

- What is the percentage of Duke fans that actually attended Duke? Man, those people seemed to come out of the woodwork at around halftime.

- Great three point shooting today.

- I hope that kid from Butler that went down with that sprain is ok. He was in some serious pain, then on crutches at the end. Never like to see that.

I’m really liking how this team is coming together. It’d be nice to see how we look at full strength (Tucker!), but so far so good.

Mallrats, most of them.

You could tell that some fans in the Duke section actually know what they chant in Cameron Indoor, and that was about it.
