Whoever thought a Week 2 BYE without benefit of a Week 0 game was a good idea didn't really think it through. Now, in the middle of the season, we're going to wish we had a BYE. And it might not just be injuries. Fully half of the Tri-City Athletic League (high school teams from Lodi, Stockton, and Tracy) had games either cancelled or postponed due to air quality; one was playing as far away as Roseville. Given the massive heat wave we've been getting lately throughout Cali (from what I'm hearing, it goes from north of Sac clear to San Diego, and I'm certainly getting more than my fair share of it in Twentynine Palms), there's a good chance that might happen to college teams, too, particularly Sac and the Manure Pile. A mid-season BYE could be a chance to re-schedule a missed game or find another one.
