BYU playing ball in the WCC

WTF??? This has got to be an absolute nightmare for the Aggies and Vandals.

Nevertheless, this move might cause some serious complications for the Sky. The WAC still has 6 members. All they need is 2 to get back to 8. Who is leaving? Will Utep and UNT leave USA and the Belt to join the WAC? Does the WAC scavange the Sky? What are your thoughts members?

The WAC members have to be buying Pepto-Bismol in bulk right now. Why would ANY FBS members want to join the WAC at this point? It's unstable (Hawaii has been looking into independence, Louisiana Tech would give its right arm to join Conference USA, and USU will be calling Craig Thompson every other minute). The Sun Belt suddenly isn't the worst FBS football league (at least starting in 2011), and it's much more stable than the WAC.

The WAC HAS to target FCS schools. Texas State and Texas-San Antonio already have publicly made it known that they'd join, regardless of who is remaining. The Big Sky would be wise to be on alert, and have a plan "B" ready should it suddenly lose members.

The WCC still doesn't sponsor some sports, such as softball. With the WAC losing 3 members (and Idaho doesn't sponsor softball), there are only 5 members in that conference for that sport. Does BYU offer to put the program there so they can maintain an auto-bid, or will they join the Pacific Coast Softball Conference with Weber, UVU, ISU, and some of the other WCC members?
