Just a couple of thoughts.
The Cats played really hard, and should have won the game. Two things stand out.Gittens wild, out of control drives to the basket, several times at crunch time, really hurt.Dude thinks he's Allen Iverson. If Rahe wants to play The freshman Johns, all of the 2cd half, somebody needs to work with him on foul shots. He kept going to the line at the end of the game, and I think he missed all of them. He's going to be a nice player for Weber, but the Cats have a history of missing big foul shots at end of tight games.
The team looks much better this year though. They should be in the mix for the Big Sky championship.

It is true that Gittens did not have a good shooting night. However, his drives were not 'wild', and the shots were shots that he can make. I think he was fouled on some of those drives, but did not get the call. The charge call was totally bogus, He was already in the air when the defender slid under him. That is the reason I wish they would get rid of that call altogether. It's a hard call to get right and it would be best if it were a no call when the defender has good position. That way, if it isn't clearly a defensive foul, there is no call to make. It would be like extending the charge arc to include the entire court. Anyway, Gittens rebounded well, handled the ball well, and played good D. He will have better shooting nights.

We just need to learn to deal with the doubling off of ball screens. We need to start splitting the defenders and forcing the refs to make the PF call when the trip or hack us. We need to make teams pay for doing that, or we will see a lot more of it. :coffee:

Old runner is right about Gittens plays good defense, because he's quick. He has a high motor, but too much so,in my opinion. How many times have you seen him pass on a wide open 12 footer,to drive to the basket when there's really no where to go.what I mean by wild,is he drives to the basket, and you've got 7 ft Austin, and 6 ft 10 Kaufusi, right there under the basket, waiting. His shots in that case have no chance. And he'll try it time and again.he's good at things like rebounding, and defense, but he has a lot of bad shooting games.I give him A + for effort, but in the critical part of the game a shot by Senglin,Baker,or really anybody would have given them a much better chance. I don't want to be negative, but I call it as I see it.I'll shut up now.

Don't shut up at all. You are right. Keep adding your two cents. Gittens is a great athlete, but an average basketball player. His athletic abilities really pay dividends in certain facets of the game like defense, rebounding, and being able to penetrate and get to the hoop. His shooting abilities have really improved too. My only issue with Gittens is that he plays out of control. How many times have we seen him get a charging call, lose the ball out of bounds, or gets it stolen because he is going too fast? I don't blame Rahe for having him on the floor at the end of the game, his efforts were amazing on Saturday. However, you are down by 9 with a min to go and two of your best three point shooters are on the bench. These are the things that really worry me. Also, time management on Saturday was ridiculous. Gittens and Senglin are running around wasting time passing the ball trying to get an open shot and there weren't any opportunities. BYU only needed to guard one guy and kinda guard the second. By not having your best 3 point shooters in the game you've effectively helped the defense zero in on two guys. Having Hill and John on the floor, two guys on the floor who haven't hit a 3 this season, you've shortened your offensive ability and really helped the defense. You need a big shot and all of your shooters, who have game experience and are good defenders (lets be honest you are going to foul automatically) are on the BENCH?! What the HELL was Randy thinking? Also, running around for 20 seconds being down 5 was awful.

LASTLY...When the hell will we see an actual inbound play?

 My observation...I think effective time/clock management is a weakness of Coach Rahe & staff at the end of most of their tight games. (Must be a difficult challenge for coaches, as I could say the same for the Wildcat football coaching staff this past season...).
