They're holding a press conference Tuesday afternoon to announce something significant which will effect their football program. Anyone have any idea what this might be? A few have speculated that they could be joining the Big Sky for football only. Although I would love to see this happen, I doubt it. The BSC has never accepted football-only members, although perhaps the FCS landscape on the West Coast has changed considerably enough for them to reevaluate their position. Damn, I'd love to see Davis added as well. That would give us a really large footprint in California with three BSC teams there. Would also generate more interest for Sac with in-state conference rivals. Might as add Southern Utah to make it a 12 team conference....makes sense.
Unfortunately, I think it's far more likely that they will announce their intention to either join the WAC or their intention to move to FBS. Why anyone would want to join a conference with only 5 football members (and possibly more leaving) I will never know.
