Cal Poly game thread

OK, Mustangs just scored their second touchdown. The Viks look COMPLETELY unprepared for this game. The offense is so ineffectual that the only way I can muster ANY hope is that Barnum is lulling Poly into some kind of bored stupor. And the defense? WTF?

Barnum and his play calling has been awful this game and for pretty much the whole season. It's like he isn't sure what he wants to do. Our offense is so predictable, it's laughable.

Burton is getting outcoached, Barnum's play calling is horrible and McDonagh is getting worse each year!

I really don't think McDonagh has gotten worse. I really think this two qb system is the reason for this ineffective offense. Alternating quarterbacks messes up the flow of the entire offense, there's a reason teams don't have dual qb systems. The timing of the offense, the cadence, etc are all thrown off.

Look at the Eastern game today, Vernon started the game 2-9 and he did not get yanked. McDonagh stalls on a drive he's yanked. I really think the coaches need to pick one guy. If McDonagh is the man stick by him and let him lead this team. If it's Penn then let him. Right now the offense has no identity or leadership and I think it's a result of not having one voice in the huddle.

Also I can't stress how atrocious the play calling is.

Barnum is lulling me into some kind of bored stupor. :ohno:

A complete and utter failure. Bruce Barnum has failed us. Time to put him out of our misery. Enough of his fraudulent coaching.

This is really disappointing. I expected so much more from our Vik's. I am mot a coach and don't claim to be, but even I know you can't rotate 3 different quarterbacks. I watched football all day today, and not one other college football program operated this way. Pick your quarterback and stick with him. So frustrated......

I don't know who were more ill-prepared, the players or the coaches. The only good thing is that this was not played in Portland. Trying to convince people to come watch PSU football, imagine how embarrassing it would have been for them to see this. We now have two weeks to be prepared for any semblance of DI football in the Park Blocks. I don't know if that is enough time.

No one should be surprised. This coaching staff is way out classed. Nothing has changed over the last 5 years. Nigel Burton is a complete amateur and is in over his head. That was clear by his resume and lack of experience. Incomprehensible how he was hired in the first place but I kept hoping he'd be able to overcome his inexperience.

Couldn't agree more.

Not good. :ohno:

Geez. My daughter was in town this weekend so we could go down to Corvallis and see her Aztecs of San Diego State take on OSU. After a good start and three terrible quarters later, I was hoping for some good news on my Viks. Apparently not so. :-\

Filtering through the comments and the box score, this looks to be a bit of a disaster.

A couple of things stick out to me:

a) you generally can't win a football game giving up 42 points

b) you generally won't win a football game in this day and age by scoring 14 points

Houston, we have a problem...
