Consider this a cry for help.

I live two hours away from Missoula and am jonesing at the chance to see NAU go head to head vs. the Grizzlies in what I've always considered to be one of the best home I-AA football environments in the country. NAU has played the Griz well up here the last two times and just may make a game of it this year. The law of averages, and that infallible positive outlook, leads me to believe the Jacks will beat the Griz at least once every decade or so.

The minor problem I am facing is that tickets just don't exist. College football is truly the only show in town up here and getting a ticket's akin to acquiring a Packers season ticket or winning the lottery.

I've perused just about every known option on the internet for tickets to no avail. Many, many seeking and few selling on egriz.com. Another griz loss would be welcome as a good chunk of their fan base seems to think the sky is falling after losing one regular season game out of the last, oh, what is it 25 or 26 games.

Have also asked multiple acquaintances around the state and continue to hit my head against the wall.

I called NAU Athletics a few weeks back to see if they knew any inroads but am not able to drop a hundred bones or so on a donation to the university to ensure a ticket as I'm back in school up here myself and scraping by as it is.

So, is anyone out there in the blogosphere attending the game by chance? Got an extra ticket or any info on how to acquire one? A little help here....please....anyone? Please share with the class if any ideas exist.

Will NAU's number one booster, Dr. A, be in Missoula perhaps? If so, I'm the guy who sat with you in Portland at the BSC championship. I would've contacted you but I lost your email address on the Amtrak ride back to MT.

Thanks,
MTJack

"Go Jacks!"

PS - Is the location of NAU's boosters hotel accomodations common knowledge on road trips? If so, how would I go about finding out where they're staying in Missoula as a last ditch effort to see if anyone has tickets available?

best advice: u need to be able to get player tickets. usually the players can get 2 tkts for road games, then if nau doesn't use em all, UM would sell the remainder as we all know they sell out their place.

Weberwildcat -

Thanks for the info. I'll remember about players tickets when looking into options next time.

Got a call from a friend and I'm pretty sure she (a Griz fan, nonetheless) was able to acquire two tickets @ UM after all.

WSU beat em this year for the first time in ages. Here's hoping NAU follows suit and gets that monkey off their backs. I've been an NAU fan since about 1990 and, if my statistics are correct, NAU has two wins versus UM (witnessed one in Flagstaff) over the course of nearly 20 years. Ugh.

Heh. Allegiances die hard. Yours is to the U of M. Mine is to NAU. Where one lives should have nothing to do with what team they root for. There are lots of U of M fans in Tucson/Phoenix/Flagstaff. Nothing wrong with that...kind of cool to be honest. Therefore, nothing wrong with a few NAU fans spread out amongst your turf.

Amen to that Mtjack,

I live in the easter part of Washington State and all of this is WSU and Eastern Washington country but yet I still wear my NAU gear proudly and attend some of the NAU-Eastern Washington games when NAU comes up to Cheney. There is nothing wrong with cheering for your school no matter where the job has taken you after graduation. I love living in eastern washington, but I will never cut my ties to NAU. Once a lumberjack, always a lumberjack.

Well, of course it does.

There's always an exception.

Ok, that was fun. Now for some serious business - you've just GOT to kick the s**t out of Weber this weekend! We're counting on you!! Then next weekend you can play ANOTHER game to determine the Conference championship.

King -

Depending on a multiple variables (time, money, academic workload, Amtrak schedule, NAU's standing in the league), I may try to hop on the train from N. Montana to Spokane/Cheney for the EWU game. If so, I'll contact you. I have a few cousins and their families out there in Spo-Compton and am always eager for a quick roadtrip if possible.

Da Griz -

NAU sincerely hopes to oblige the wishes of Griz fans this weekend. That would set up a fun following weekend in Missoula. It'll be great to experience a live Griz game and get to see my alma mater at the same time. An NAU win in Missoula would be a cherry on top, although somewhat unrealistic when I look back at the history of the series.

Exciting two weeks of Big Sky football upcoming. NAU, UM, and WSU all have a legitimate shot at winning the league. A few other teams with slim chances at working their way back into the equation. Maybe it's the controlled substances? Maybe it's my irrational optomism? But I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for three Big Sky Conference playoff bids. I know that would be unprecedented but three teams are ranked now and if they somehow stay in the rankings til the end of the season...ya never know.

Should have seen it coming, but this year's balance was a surprise.

You've got to be given a little respect to get something like that.
