Can WSU beat Montana 7 in a row?

WSU has beat Montana in basketball 6 times in a row. Rahe is 6-1 vs Tinkle. We have won 7 of last 8 with the only loss being in OT in Missoula.

What is even more impressive is UM is the team we do the poorliest against historically and our worst record in Big Sky is against UM. We are 64-43 all-time vs the Griz.

2010: WSU 64, UM 56
2009: WSU 71, UM 55
2009: WSU 69, @UM 58
2008: WSU 68, @UM 67
2008: WSU 76, UM 67
2007: WSU 73, UM 67
2007: @UM 90, WSU 86 (overtime)
2006: WSU 71, UM 67

What is up with UM scoring 67 points in most of em? So if we score 68 pts on Fri will that guarantee a win? LOL

UM doesn't match up with Weber very well. Session or Lillard can guard and limit AJs output, same with Cherry. And the way Panos is playing I don't think UM has anyone who can stop him. Qualve isn't playing that great right now, Ward isn't strong enough (good looking player though), and Selvig can't stay on the floor for long periods of time (fouls or injury precaution his feet). McGillis, Staudacher, and Taylor dont match well with Hansen, Bullinger, and Hughey. Our Bench is deeper and the Cats play great team ball. Rassoum Young has a lot of potential, but just hasn't been the offensive threat that Tinkle imagined him to be. For UM to beat Weber, AJ is the key. Double teams on AJ has given staudacher and cherry more looks, but UM's success hinges on their abilities to make those open shots. Tinkle has to match Rahe in coaching and changing the game plan throughout the game. Weber just needs to keep doing what they are doing.

For Weber...I wouldn't be surprised if Bullinger or Hansen break out big this weekend. I've heard that Bull is shooting a lot better. He just can't get into early foul trouble. He needs to get into a good rythmn early. Hansen just needs to hit his first couple of shots and maybe look to take it to the rim once in a while. He is an excellent FT shooter. If he takes it to the hoop, then players might start playing off him a bit giving him more room and time to set up his shot.

I'm more worried about MSU. However, they look like they are starting to fade. They depend so much on the long ball and their zone defense. Really, they don't have much of an inside game. They do have the ability to drive and kick or get good penetration, but I think we have as much or more speed than them. That was one of our weaknesses last season and they exposed it.

Yes. Think of the reverse of this. Imagine you had lost to a team 7 times in a row. Could you beat a team you have lost to 7 times in a row? I think it is just a myth that it is hard to beat a team 3 times in one season or several times in a row. I wish someone would do a statistical analysis to see if there is any truth to such beliefs.
Each year, you have different players and the season is different. Even though we beat um this year, that was back in late December and both teams have changed a lot since then. Weber has gotten a lot better and I would guess um has improved as well, but maybe not as much. We shall see on Friday.

My heart is telling me that Weber will sweep the Montana Schools this weekend, however, we can only afford to split this weekend, if we win our home games, and split both roadtrips, the conference is ours.

If Weber is able to sweep this weekend, there is no reason why Weber shouldnt come home to crowds of 7,000+ for thier final 3 home games.

WILDCAT, I thought you knew Weber fan a little better than that. It's a shame, but unless Utah St or BYU is coming to the Dee, 7K+ isn't going to happen.

We were able to get over 7,000 fans when ISU came to town last year. 7,401 to be exact. :ugeek: And it was the largest crowd for a big sky game out of all other big sky games that year.

Some local attention would be nice hint, hint SLC media  Im getting tired of being an "oh by the way" in the eyes of the local media. Hey SLC media, Weber is division 1 to, stop treating us like a D2 school program.

UM is stacked with delusional fans who expect their basketball team to replicate the success of the football program. I just dont want to see a Weber win categorized as being another sign of UM basketball inconsistency. If Weber wins tomorrow, its proof of how much better Weber is than UM. However, UM is a good team, with a lot of talent. Tomorrows game is going to be a heck of a game.
