Let's send the cats and griz home with big losses this week. Last year's schedule gave them a big favor as they didn't have to come to Reese court.

The montana teams are decent but I don't believe match up well against the EAGS. As far as non-conference records go Eastern's is the best in the BSC and the EAGS have played a more difficult non-conference schedule.
EWU's Strength of schedule (SOS) is better than both Montana schools. RPI isn't close. All data from ESPN http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/rpi/_/groupId/5
EWU RPI Rank = 92, Non-conference SOS = 90
UM RPI Rank = 214, Non-conference SOS = 116
MSU RPI Rank = 331, Non-conference SOS = 238

Meh. The SOS numbers are completely misleading. The GRIZ played three teams in the RPI Top 25, four in the top 50, and six in the top 100. Eastern played just one in the top 25, just one in the top 50, and just 3 in the top 100. SOS also excluded DII games; Eastern played two of those, UM none.
That's not to say that UM will be favored in this game; they won't be in Cheney. But your stats aren't the reason, and to suggest Eastern's noncon schedule was more-difficult than Montana's is just silly.

You can throw out the RPI and SOS. They don't mean much too me and this is coming from a huge stats guy. Montana passes the eye-test which is all that really matters. UM has a great team with LEGIT guards. This is going to be a tough one for the Eags. There aren't many things I would miss this one for. Reese should be rockin  even with school not back in session yet.ClarkWGrizwald said:GoldenEagle said:Atomic Eagle said:Both are probably better than their records would indicate.
