He said that the Wyoming deal was a 2 for 1, and that it was in conjunction with a football contract with them. It sounds like he is getting more involved in the basketball scheduling process. That is a good thing. I was generally encouraged by the things he had to say. :coffee:

I like that we are looking outside the box to get basketball games. Wyoming should be playing Weber more often, if not, we should get a lot of $$$ out of the Cowboys for the deal. Maybe to keep the contract cheep for Wyoming they agreed to a home and home in basketball and a 350K football deal? Who knows...I'd like to see the details, which I'm sure we never will see.

No matter, we've got to hand it to Bovee and Paul for the work they have done on getting the football schedule ironed out. :thumb: Nice Job guys!! They both know that football has to make, from guarantee games, at least 400K each year. I'm sure the PAC 12 games are major payouts 600K+. So, getting games against winnable MW (like last Thursday  :dunce: ) is a bonus for the Cats, since those guys can only payout 350K to 400K per matchup and Weber has, supposedly, a better chance of pulling upsets against those team. If they can also get a DI basketball game out of the deal would also be a major +, if that can happen.

Big Sky/Big West challenge makes good sense. I know that it's been discussed here before. Mid majors need to take care of each other.

More excuses and BS from Bovee regarding scheduling. Says Sac St can get more D1 games because they are located in California. :willybs: Sac St has exactly 1 home D1 OOC game (Abilene Christian) this season. Says Montana is in the same boat as Weber. :willybs: Well if they are they're doing a much better job of getting out of that boat as they have a good home OOC schedule of 4 D1 games and 0 non-D1 games. Says that "down the road" will probably need to start "buying" games. How about doing that now!

And are you serious that Weber had to pay Portland a small guarantee to travel to Portland and play on the road?! :yikes:

I think that Jerry misspoke on the small payout we got from Portland in place of a HnH contract. We would never pay to play on the road. That would just be stupid. We got a small payout, but no return match. WCC schools think they are too good to play any HnH deals with BSC teams. With the exception of Gonzaga, I think they are full of crap. However, that is the guidance they are getting from the WCC administration.

One thing that Bovee said, that makes a lot of sense, is that we will be seeking out teams like SDSU, NDSU, and other who have the same scheduling problems that we do. Like I've said before, we may need to play at some place we don't want to in order to get better home schedules.

I still have hope for things to improve. :coffee:
