Central Michigan Tonight

Did anyone from forum make the trip to sunny Florida? As much as I want to believe that we have chance to win, I am having a hard time picking it. The Chippewas are a good experienced team. (Get ready for Rahes post game now). But they have been without Chris Fowler, their star senior guard.

Three guys to watch
John Simons 6'8 forward Senior 10 points 13 boards. Has played 77 out of the 80 minutes total the Chips have played.
Rayshawn Simmons 6'4 Senior 24 points 4 Reb 4.5 Ast
Braylon Rayson 5'9 JR 19.5 pts 4 Reb 2.5 Ast

They look to only play 7 players. As a team they have 8600 minutes of playing time. Not counting their star guard Fowler who is out indefinitely and wont play tonight. So yes they are the veteran team that has been playing together forever. We need to get them into foul trouble early and force them to go to their bench. We need to contain Rayson and Simmons.

I hope we keep it close, we may have a chance in this one. If Fowler was playing, I would predict a blow out. Vegas has us at a 3 point underdog. I think we start Cannon, Senglin, Baker, Bolomboy, Braxton. The game will be streamed on Youtube for free. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOtgw7TBjhM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Fowler is day to day and could be ready tonight. Keno Davis is keeping very mum about that. He did say that Blake Hibbitts is out for the season. No matter if Fowler is ready or not, Rayshawn Simmons and Braylon Rayson have provided quite a bit of fire-power for the Chippewas this season. Austin Stewart, who has been playing in place of the injured Fowler, has been steady and giving Eastern Michigan just enough so far.

The two wins by Eastern Michigan, haven't necessarily been awe-inspiring. Yes, they score a lot, but their defense hasn't been exactly stellar. I think the Cats, if they show up on the defensive end, can really give Central Michigan a run for their money. This is a great measure of where Weber is at currently, and what they need to do to get to where they want to be.

I saw a tweet that said he was in Detroit receiving treatment for an injury. Under the game notes for the vegas odds site it said he was out.

That's enough for me! I'll take it. Gives the Cats a far better chance of pulling out the W.

I think we will see the same starting lineup from Thursday:

Cannon
Senglin
Baker
Bolomboy
Braxton

With the three top key reserves getting great mins.
Hill
Gittens
John

I wouldn't doubt seeing Rahe going to his bench early and often. I think we see Richardson, Williams, and Jefferson in this one as well.

I have been watching the live feed for the Milwaukee vs. Murray State game and it looks like a strong stream. So we should be able to watch a good game tonight. I am not sure what to make of coach pulling the redshirts off of John & Williams. That would put us at an 11 man rotation if all of the players you list play. I am not sure that we have seen Randy do that before. In any case we should run them and force them to go more than 7 deep.

0-8 from three point range to start the game. Lovely. 5-19 from the field (26.3%). I've only been watching for a few minutes, but Weber is missing plenty of open looks. Can't blame Rahe for that part.

Weber defenders can't stop drives to save their lives. Central Michigan is driving around them at will as if Weber State has cement in their shoes. It doesn't help that the refs are calling ticky-tack hand checks as Central Michigan blows by Weber defenders.

If somebody other than Bolomboy could make a basket we would probably be winning this game, with as bad as we are playing and shooting we are only down 6 at half, could be a lot worse.

Well, with as bad as we shot from the 3 and the Free, a win is a win.

63-60 Weber wins. Joel Bolomboy was a beast, hopefully the rest of the team shows up tomorrow offensively.

Lets get after the Drake Bulldogs

Amen to Bolomboy. 19 points and 15 rebounds. Gotta give credit to Senglin as well with a few timely threes. I like players who try to take over a game, and Senglin did that for a little while. Bolomboy is the MVP of the game, easily, but it wouldn't have been a victory without Senglin as well.

It was just a matter of time for Senglin. He dominated the 2nd half. He is playing much more controlled especially driving to the hoop.

In limited time I like what we're seeing in Williams and John.

Lost the Rebound battle by 4 38 - 34
Lost the O Rebound by 8 15 - 7 *
Out Assisted by 6
Lost 3 % 18% from 3 (3-16) CMU 11-40 28%

Did not play well, & gutted out a W

Won by 3 yikes...

I loved the fight in the second half, they could have easily looked to tomorrow. I didn't expect the win after the shooting struggles in the first half. The Chips love the 3 ball, 2/3 of their shots attempted! I saw a little growth in the youngsters. If Braxton can get in the fight a little more for rebounds and Cannon, Baker, Gittens, and John can get some shots falling with consistency, they could have something rolling by BSC play. Williams needs to figure out how to play without fouling but I still liked the effort. Hill?? I just don't know why his potential doesn't bust out, Richardson too, for that matter.

I am no fan of Joel and Hill out on the 3PT line chucking threes, I think that's part of the OREB deficiencies so far this season. The shot goes up and not a purple jersey anywhere near the basket. Overall, there are some big bodies that could give much better effort boxing and fighting for boards. I, too, liked Senglin's decision making. He's really developed that part of his game, he's been in control this year and making good decisions. Joel and Senglin are a few players stepping up their game away from a pretty talented team. I think it'll come along. I still hate the damn flash cards!

Good win. Strong 2nd half. Senglin puts up 13 points in less than 7 minutes. Only 9 turnovers.
As Baker and Cannon get more experience and start knocking down more shots, that will free up Senglin more.
John played tough. interesting that he got more minutes than Gittens.

We lost almost every statistical category and came out with the win. I really liked the toughness that John and Williams brought to the game. When you don't have unforced turnovers and play good defense magic can happen. Wow they shot a lot of three balls.

We saw some good things from coach tonight. I liked that we changed to zone in the second half. I also thought our chemistry looked better. If a few other players show up on offense this team can be really good.

We are actually seeing coach making some adjustments and trying to improve his coaching. From the zone defense to pulling redshirts to changing the starting lineup and rotation, this is a side of coach we're not used to seeing. And look what happened, a second half comeback, something else we're not used to seeing.

Good point in pulling the redshirts. I think he tried to stick it out last season when he realized guys were out of position and that we had brought in the wrong players. You have to admit that was gutsy decision and may lead to some transfers at the end of the season. But it also shows that the tail is not going to wag the dog this season.

We just might see some transfers at the end of the season. Richardson going from starting to not seeing a single minute and very few minutes in the blowout at home last week. Also Gittens had less min than Cody John. Seems to be paying off as I think we looked good, not great in the second half.
Lets keep the momentum and take down Drake

Richardson will find his way back into the rotation. He might even get himself back into the starting lineup. But, we all have to admit having Cannon on the floor really makes the Cats a far stronger team. We seem more efficient. He will also find his shot. As for Gittens, there will be some games where he plays 30mins and others where he will only get 10. Depends on the team we are playing and how in control he is. He is our best defensive player and an enormous spark off the bench.
