Chances of beating St Maries

Looking at the stats it looks like St Maries is a world beater, but when you look at who they have played not so much. The beat win thus far appears to be Weber, which is no small task, but other than that lots of lesser teams.
Can we win???

Zero chance. We have lost a bunch of late. Had trouble putting away an average D3. Offensively we will be fine. Defensively we will continue to struggle. I hope I am wrong.

Our Defense really needs to step up in this one. Chiverton use to play (at least red shirted) for St. Mary's so I can see him either going lights out or the other way around.

St. Marys is a tough team at home, they usually play nobody during the non-conference season (which always kills their at larges chances), but they are still a tough team, especially at home.

Eastern matches up fairly well with St. Marys because they do not have a lot of height. Our chances are slim, but if we can shoot well and play some D, the Eags have a shot.

Have a good feeling about this game...good enough to lay a heavy bet in Vegas on them just now at +16.5 pts...also bet on Butler at +13.5 vs Gozaga...Go EWU/Butler!

I think the students are gone for both home teams so that helps EWU, and Butler. I'm surprised by the spread in the Butler/GU game, I think the zags win but don't cover that spread, without the students, that place is typically really quiet (see portland state 2 years ago) and not as difficult to play in.

Yikes... looks like our offense packed up for Winter Break a little early.

I'm getting a little concerned that we're becoming well-conditioned losers... able to stay with good teams by reasonable margins (see Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Oregon, UCLA, CS-Fullerton, among others) but not able to really go for the W. Hopefully taking a little step down from that level into the BSC will help--- or the opposite could happen where just learn to play down to that level and still maintain our status as well conditioned losers.

I vould see this season going either way at the point... etiehr contending for a conference title (spots 1-3) or falling down the ladder and struggling (spots 7-9). I don't think the middle-tier will fit.

I had hoped we would be a little more competitive in this game. Seems like the Eagles have plateaued since the WSU game. They have been dominated by several teams since. After Idaho I was looking forward to conference play but am concerned now.

We will be fine in conference play, though likely inconsistent. Need to improve our defensive effort. With upperclassmen we should be locking people down. When a D3 team nearly shoots 50%, that says a lot. On offense, so goes Chiverton, so goes Eastern. He will gets his points because he definitely gets his shots. What needs to get better are his assists as he has only 9 in 12 games. And rebounds. At 6-4 he is only getting 2 per game. This is LESS than our two smaller 6-0 guards. He is a good individual player for sure. Coach will get'em ready for conference play.

I thought that was the purpose of the entire season thus far. Are we better now than after the Idaho game?

Good point. The answer is no. I think we have regressed and are not playing as a team. Missing leadership on the floor.

I think these guys will pick it up come conference time. The previous 2 years (not counting exhibition games) we were 4-8, this year we are 6-6, so that is a step in the right direction. We have also only played 4 home games and 8 on the road, with the first 2 conference games also on the road, so these guys are tired and need some home cooking and rest. Starting the season with 10 road games and 4 home is difficult to overcome, If we can split with the Montana schools to open the conference I think this team will finish top 3 by the end of the season.
