Chip to Transfer

Heard this through the rumor mill. This hasn't been fully corroborated, but the source is fairly accurate. A Florida QB is set to transfer to a lower division school in Alabama. I've seen Jadrian Clark this summer so I am guessing it is Chip.

While I don't typically pay attention to rumor, I have to admit I wouldn't be real heart broken if this is the case. Just watching the Purple & White game this spring 1 thing REALLY stood out. WSU is screwed at QB. Every QB that got a shot in that scrimmage promptly pi$$ed down their own leg. They may just have to hand it off every play, its better than throwing it to the WRONG team. :twocents:

Not a huge surprise. From all of Coach Hill's comments he clearly is not satisfied with the QBs currently in the program. I've heard hints that the staff's been working really hard on getting a transfer or two at that position.

Like I said earlier, I cannot corroborate this rumor. There is nothing online about it and, of course, the roster doesn't reflect anything. However, I have heard that the coaching staff has been doing everything it can to bring in a transfer QB or find "other" option. To me, the best option, for the Cats at QB would be the incoming freshman from Rocky Mountain: Riley Bradshaw.

Maybe Garside can do some research and scratch up a story or two about possible transfers to Weber State. We all know that there will be a handful this fall who are not on the roster right now.

I was told the same rumor about a month ago and I'm still hoping its not true. I really like watching the chipper and I think he may be our best option at QB.

Chip's an enigma recruited as a dual threat QB, but he hasn't shown the ability to avoid the rush. Has made some nice plays but more often than not has missed the mark, but he was still just a freshman so I can't be too harsh.

If Hill is looking for a transfer QB he just needs to dip into the Ute QB pool... they have/had 7 on roster.

Lastly, you have to wonder what would have been if WSU had been able to get BYU transfers Brad Sorensen and Ammon Olsen... Were we even on their short list?

Hey wsucatfan are you saying Heaps is going to transfer to us

Uh, no not going to call that one... last time we got a blue chip recruit (Jimmy Barnes) he didn't pan out so well. I think he threw more passes for TD for the opponents than he did for WSU. I would bet Heaps is looking for a lower FBS team he can drop in and play for...

Heaps is going to Miami.

Coach Hill has been fairly open about his desire to improve the QB spot on the roster. He wasn't satisfied by the play at QB during spring ball, and has talked about bringing in a transfer. I've heard that that might be occurring too. Can't tell you who, but that it might be happening.

^^Really hoping for this. This team might be a solid QB away from being pretty good.

:+1: I felt the same way about last year's team as well, there was some good talent on that team last year, a good QB and we beat SUU, and maybe even MSU last season.

The roster was recently updated. As of right now, Chip is still on there. Who knows? Chip was a true freshman last year. He might really improve and become a far better QB and leader this season. My source still says he is gone.

Out of the guys signed earlier this year there are a bunch not on the current roster. I'm sure they are all mission guys.

Not on the roster:
Garry Callis
Brock Doman
Cameron Hansen
Michael Key
A.J. Lolohea
Cole McGinnis
Clay Moss
Lane Sale
Tanner Samson
Jared Schiess
Pio Stowers
Hyrum Tapusoa
Sionebaby Tuikolovatu
Austin Tesch
Stetson Wood

Also, guys on missions (assumed) from 2013:
Blake Barney
Kai Gonda
Dallin Hatch
Ikea Ikehara
Austin McChesney
Feleti Mulitalo
Kyler Munson
Jonah Williams

2012:
Duncan Farnsworth

What about preferred walkons. Any way to find out who might be coming in through that avenue?

After reading about Dave Dickenson being named the #1 all-time Men's Big Sky athlete, I decided to do some research. Jamie Martin had a better collegiate career and professional career. Sure Dickenson did some great things in the CFL, but was a total NFL bust. While Martin was in the NFL for almost two decades. Martin left the Sky with a lot of awards, records, and hardware; records Dickenson wasn't able to best. Anyway, to get to my point, Martin didn't have a very strong freshman campaign. Actually, for those who remember, it was borderline dreadful. Needless to say, Martin had a very humbling first year in college and ended up becoming Weber State's most prolific QB. I'm not saying Chip will do the same thing, I'm just saying that he showed signs of becoming a good QB for the Cats and might be able to make some impressive strides, under good coaches, his sophomore season. If he does leave, I say give it to Jadrian Clark and see what he can do, if he can't do it, give it to Chad Leckington or even Braden Corpus. Corpus played QB in high school.
