Did anyone read the Spokane paper this morning? Chris Polk may miss the opening game due to his recent knee surgery.

I don't know how I feel about that. I'm seemingly in the minority (even on this board) in thinking we can win this game, and I think we can win with their best player on the field.

Either way, injuries are part of the game. We won a chipper with one of the best players in the country on the sideline. Next man up.

I take it as a slap in the face that Sark and co. chose to scope his knee now as opposed to earlier in the summer. To me, it says that there is a lack of respect for us. And guess what? If that's the thinking at the top, you better believe that it's infecting the troops as well  Polk or no, HUCK THE FUSKIES!

According to the Seattle Times, Polk hurt it in practice this week so don't think it was a matter of "disrespect" in waiting to have the surgery unless you feel that they should have waited until later in the season when they were into their conference schedule ... and I don't think even the most ardent Eag fan would find that makes sense.

I didnt read the article yet, so forgive me if this is mentioned... but a "scope" can mean varying degrees of damage and recovery. Just entering the knee is simple, what'll be the depending issue is how much miniscus they have to remove. A very small tissue removal isn't going to keep him out for more than a few days... a more invasive tissue removal could cause him to be out a month or so. Either way, this isn't a big time surgery, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back.

I'm almost thinking the Hawaiian DT is a better player than Polk anyway. Can someone hit him with a crowbar between now and September 3rd?
