Claire Faucher

I have to say your young guard is the best passing guard I have seen since the Lady Griz own Brooklyn Lorenzen. It looks as though Ms Faucher will break Brooklyn's records if she stays injury free. I really am looking forward to watching her play in the BSC Tourney. Hope a lot of you Viking fans are coming to Missoula. That will be a great atmosphere, tickets are selling like crazy.

Portland State sophomore guard Claire Faucher was named an honorable mention All-America by The Associated Press, as The AP released its 2007-08 All-America team Tuesday. She is the first Portland State player to ever receive All-America recognition at the NCAA Division I level.

Faucher, 5-feet-9 from Yakima, Wash., averaged 8.8 assists per game to lead the nation in assists, recording 274 in 31 games. The 274 assists set a Big Sky season record, eclipsing the previous record of 251, set by Montana's Brooklyn Lorenzen (2000-04) in 2003-04. The 274 assists ranked second on the Portland State season list, and Faucher is the first Viking to record 200 assists in a season at the NCAA Division I level.

Faucher recorded 10 or more assists in a game, 15 times this season. She set a Portland State and Big Sky single-game record with 19 assists in an 81-63 win at Idaho State on Feb. 14.

Faucher ended the year ranked fifth on the Portland State career list for assists with 396.

Faucher also averaged 13.6 points per game and led the team with 71 steals. Her average of 2.29 steals per game ranked second in the Big Sky, and she ranked ninth in scoring. She also posted the only two triple-doubles in the Big Sky this season. Faucher had 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the regular-season finale against Montana on March 8, becoming the first Viking in 361 games to record the feat. She then added 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10
assists the next game against Northern Colorado in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Tournament.
