Baldwin is so deserving of his nomination for coach of the year. It is so amazing how coach and his quarterbacks have melded together this year. I have to think this is pretty unusual, but have decided that it is simply a testament to the three of them and their collective integrity. Padron has always been mentally ready to play, and Adams' sideline demeanor when he isn't playing is tremendous.
So my question for the board is was this situation planned by Beau, or was it a happy accident that developed in real time over the season? I think it was planned. Starting Padron for the first two BCS games was purposeful in that he had so much experience at that level, and throwing the freshman into the lions den wasn't going to be necessary or particularly helpful for his development. After that, Beau could let Vernon grow into his position during the season, knowing he had a capable and mature Kyle willing and able to play in any situation.
If it was planned from the start, Baldwin should be the unamimous coach of the year!
