Wow what a ride for Wulfie! A year ago he was fired and replaced by the pirate in Pullman, now he is going to the Super Bowl!
Good for you Paul!!

I am not a big fan of the 49ers, but I am all over them winning this superbowl game. I want Paul to be able to wear his ring to all the future WSU ball games he attends. I want the WSU AD and the attorney/coach to eat the pooh they created. Leech will not make it through his first contract. Yes it is Leech.

Seriously, WTF? The guy left EWU after putting the program on probation... EWU had to dance and jive just to keep the program afloat after that debacle. He went to WSU and took a 5-7 team and got run out badly before making the team just-below-mediocre. EWU would likely have fired him. WSU DID fire him, and no coach in the World would have a legitimate gripe about being let go after that kind of record.

Does he have some nice qualities? Sure. Good personal story, too. But make no mistake, he damn near totally fucked Eastern. And he certainly didn't make things any better during his time at WSU. Maybe he's found the right fit for himself in San Francisco. I wish him all the success in the world. But I'm sure I speak for EWU and WSU fans in saying both programs are on better footing now.

Dopa;
Again you don't know the entire stories and make stmts that make you look like an IDIOT.
You should take some advise from Abraham Lincoln- "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

I could say the same for you. We'll leave it at that.

I, for one of MANY, think Eastern has upgraded since he left. We don't bend rules, we graduate our kids, and we're building onward and upward. I guarantee you the vast majority of WSU fans feel the same way... especially after learning about all of the character issues on the football team (remember, Leach had to toss 3 starting defensive guys off the team prior to the year for serious issues, plus two other defensive guys who were kicked off following drug dealing offenses in 2011).

I guess it's a matter of opinion, but most people I know around EWU were pretty jazzed when he left.

Dopa;
My comments were a bit extreme, I just get frustrated with constant negativity. I guess you are not a complete idiot, just some of your positions are idiotic.
Don't know which circles you communicate with but the people I am familiar with appreciate the positives he brought to the program.
There are also some Griz fans who were glad Bobby Hauck left Montana.

Not to get in the middle of this pissing match buuut, have to say that I'm happy Wulff and his staff moved on, I think we hit the jackpot with Coach B and his assistants, and the old saying about not being able to please 100% of the people etc is a cliche because it's largely accurate! :lol:

I'll agree with you on the Griz thing. The hiring of Pflugrad was a disaster. The guy was known as a rule-bender when he took that job. He never totally jumped over the line, but he played it like Lane Kiffin did in Tennessee--- so fast and loose that the totality of his violations is more of an issue than any singular item.

I actually feel bad for Dennehy getting thrown under the bus at UM. He inherited a shitty situation. And after the loss to Eastern, it just seems like Montana folded their tent. FWIW, the coaching was great when they played Eastern, they just couldn't get it done on the field. I suspect Montana will improve this year if they don't get slapped with sanctions between now and then (which they most certainly could).

Coach Wulff may not have had a lot of success at WSU, but he won a lot of games at Eastern and took the program to another level. He could also recruit. Look at some of the guys, Meyer, Nichols, Boyce, Peach, Sherritt. In fact, three out of the four players that have received National POY Awards were Wulff recruits.

I think a lot of folks feel like he threw the program under the bus after he went to WSU, so I can understand people being upset with him. I also feel like he maybe took the lion's share of the blame for the sanction thing, although I do believe that there was much more to it than just oversight by the HC. Agreed on the recruiting part, but don't forget that both Meyer and Nichols were coached by Baldwin when he was OC. I am sure that had something to do with them achieving the success they did.

Dopa, I've got a hard time feeling bad for anyone associated with the University of Montana football program. They absolutely deserve some more 5-6 seasons if you ask me.

From what I've heard, Dennehy is a really good person. I hate the Montana *program*, but that's not the same as hating the people in the program.

On the other hand, I hate everything and everyone associated with Gonzaga. They can all fuck off and die.

But it's "National Gonzaga Day".

Yeah, he does seem like a pretty good guy. I think it was pretty admirable the way he stepped in when they needed him to. But in terms of their program as a whole, meh.

I can speak from personal experience that the whole football program--locker room, office, practice, workouts, game day--became much more enjoyable after Wulff left. The new staff was much more approachable, easy-going, and genuinely cared about us as people.

IMO Wulff had one great coaching trait: he knew how to surround himself with talented coaches I.e. Baldwin, Best, Sturdy, Neicamp(sp?), and perhaps best of all, Mr. Darin Lovat.

I've heard that quite a bit, actually.
