Once a month and held in BFE at the Comfort Suites (2230 S. 1200 W.). Can this get any worse or further away from the school?

The only thing you can do is email Jerry Bovee and Becky at the Wildcat Club and express your thoughts about the lucnheon. I did that several years ago and although they did respond to my email I was basically told my points were invalid. Unless you are a VERY high level donor at WSU then your opinion doesn't matter.
I havn't been to a Coaches Luncheon for several years now and I used to be a regular attendee. The location, food, and price get worse every year according to those I talk to who still go.

Exactly, the same mindset seems rampant throughout the WSU Athletic (marketing/sales/booster) Department. There's no doubt in my mind that Weber State could do so much better at building a larger fan base, community support/involvement, and donors if they would shy away from the "good 'ol boys" mentality of doing business.

Ah, the ubiquitous coaches luncheon complaint thread. I was wondering when we'd see this. Truly, I was beginning to worry that nobody was going to post. Thanks sadkitty! Anyway, I refuse to participate in this event. I went twice last year and both times the event was poorly managed and even worse, the food was cold and pretty bad.

Back in the day, when I first started attending. It used to be weekly at Lagoris and was a lot of fun. It was a great way for athletics to meet with the casual fan and talk about the programs. It was an event that could help grow a fan base. From what I can recollect, it was always well attended and informative. Yes, it was a bit cramped and all the coaches spoke each week, which was too much, but it was nice and attending wasn't going to break your wallet. The food isn't the greatest thing, but it isn't bad. I actually quite like Lagoris cuisine. Since it was moved, it has moved from the OGCC, to the Marriott, now to Comfort suites on 22nd. It keeps moving further north and west. I'm guessing closer to administrator's houses. Lord forbid we drive to campus ever. The cost has increased and the event rarely happens. Worst of all, most of those attending are either members of the athletic department, local journalist, or the octogenarian who remembers the glory days of Weber being a JC. :kisswink: I do appreciate those octogenarians...they are the only people donating to and buying season tickets.

To me, I would want to maximize opportunities, not limit chances to develop and grow a fan base. Might as well start holding the luncheon at a mortuary. That is where most of our current season ticket holders are ending up and they aren't being replaced with a younger generation. Keep up the good work athletics. :)

Sad but true. Sad but true.

I did not attend last year for the simple fact that it was at the Summit and it is no surprise that they shut the restaurant down there. Their kitchen may have been the nastiest kitchen in Ogden.

I remember going to the luncheon as a kid at the Radisson. I remember my dad taking me out of school so we could see Larry Farmer around the time he got the shiny new Mercedes.

Make the luncheon: accessible, affordable, informative and fun. It also helps to not have it at a place that is on the verge of being shut down by the health inspector. That's it, it is not complicated.
