As you know we are down at least three coaches now. I do not know how Easterns pay scale compares to other Big Sky schools and other coaching opportunities in Washington, and all of FCS for that matter. My impression is we are at the low end of any spectrum you choose to use. Fund raising is more important now than ever and specifically a pool to pay coaches better. A Go Fund Me seems pretty desperate and poor reflection on the University. How else could money be raised to fund coaches salaries specifically.

I won't donate a penny to Eastern until the Goddamn President grows a pair and makes a commitment to football. This is one of the worst run universities in America. It's crying shame that our university leadership is feckless and cowardly. How much longer do we need for the President to come out and make a statement reaffirming athletic excellence? You couldn't find a single department at the school that does more with less than athletics... and you'd be hard pressed to find an athletics department in the country that achieves results on the shoestring budget that Eastern has.

Seriously, Eastern was in great shape when Arevalo left. Since then, the clown car has been rolling through Cheney and it's one horrible decision after another. How long does it take to make a statement about the future of athletics? This should've been done the second the Pictor report came out. Why should athletics be made to suffer because Eastern can't find a President with a functional brain and the ability to make a decision and stick to it?

Make a plan. Work the plan. Make Eastern Great Again. Find another Arevalo that has some vision and believes that this can be a great school with a burgeoning enrollment and engaged student body. It's almost shocking to think this has gone to shit in just a few short years.

I really want to believe May is a decent fella, but allowing people- and their jobs, and families, and the community at large--- to flap in the wind while you do nothing and say nothing is piss-poor leadership.

It's very reasonable to think the AD can make a few cuts in some areas, but even allowing talk of cutting our most prolific sports and becoming an NAIA school is absurd. I mean, if you're gonna cut sports, maybe pick some that aren't perennial achievers? It's almost as if the anti-athletics crowd wants to make the most fatal cut possible.

FYI, there is not a President right now. There in an interim President but I do not want a temporary commitment to anything (I've been married over 45 years) .
The ball is in the lap of the board and since they are Inslee nominees look out.

That says a lot right there...with an explanation mark.
Now I'm concerned with what kind of a permanent president we end up with...whenever.

I also feel the president needs to step up and take a stand. As we see the turnover in staff and kids it worries me that their has not been a statement made. Worries me more that there is some internal angst and that we have no clue the conversations going on behind closed doors. I do know the BOT meeting is in May. I wouldn't expect a formal announcement til end of May or early June. Hopefully the University comes with a very strong statement and erases all doubt about athletics and our University's commitment to it.

Well we just hired a running backs coach so all must not be doom and gloom because if it was they would not be able to approve a hire.

I'm glad we got 1 space filled. Any changes in receivers coach? All of those dropped balls by receivers may have cost EB3 the Payton award.

CDAEAGLE, I hear what you're saying. EWU has that UNLV game in perhaps the nicest NFL stadium to start the season out. Plus that sweet schedule so having him back imperative to not only watch him play but for a great run come playoff time. Guess it's wait and see mode.

Two things come to mind about him possibly leaving....
First is that if it happens it will be this week (only because a lot of the awards are already given out and would not be a distraction to that process), but considering how many places have already filled up because of previous transfers I really not sure there is anywhere for him to go.

Secondly looking at all the transfers both in hoops and in football I'm not sure all of them worked out for the best in terms of raising their profile or getting into a higher division.
IMPO the Groves brothers were the only ones to improve their stock/positioning.

The thought about places having filled up because of transfers or being already prepared especially at qb came to mind. Not sure how it works but if a player is going to try and transfer this late could they have been in contact with another institution(or them with a player) that is in need of a qb. Seems like this late with spring ball done most schools are ready to go come fall. To simply go to some school who promises a chance at a tryout seems like a big gamble for EB3 when our schedule is such he can win that Payton and make a playoff run. If he goes and rides the pine his NFL/CFL stock drops like a rock. Hope he has some great guidance.
