ALWAYS a pleasure to listen to Coach Kramer. Tingey had some interesting things to say as well to start off the show.
:thumb: The practice field is 90% to 95% funded, and he is going to start the bidding process. If I understood correctly, the latest he'd like construction to begin on it is late winter/early spring. It will be on the south side, because it was deemed necessary to keep the east side open for fire lanes. It would also create challenges on the east side due to the proximity to the houses there.
:thumb: Idaho is expected back in the conference for all sports but basketball in 2014. If Idaho brings football back, he said the conference will be split into two 7 team division. He also said that if that happens, the Big Sky will be the first and probably only FCS conference to stage a conference championship. So that brings me to my question -
:?: How and Why? FCS schools are allowed 11 regular season games, and the playoffs begin immediately the week after. How do you manage the timing of a championship game? Does the NCAA move the entire playoffs back another week just because of one conference? The Big Sky champion is already granted an auto-bid into the playoffs. Why stage a championship which could, a) potentially eliminate a Big Sky team from an auto or at large bid due to a 4th loss or a record similar to another NCAA team, and b) create a lower seeding for a team because of a possible loss? FBS teams have conference champions for MONEY, plain and simple. I don't see the logic in an FCS conference championship game. Anybody?
