• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Coastal Carolina to jump to FBS, Sun Belt Conference

So it is being reported that Coastal Carolina will announce at a press conference tomorrow afternoon that they will make the jump to the FBS and join the Sun Belt Conference as its 12th full member. All sports other than football will join in 2016 and football will finish their transition to the FBS in 2017.

It'll be interesting to see if they decide to add any other full time members in the future. I think any more full members for the Sun Belt will lead to Idaho and New Mexico State football getting the boot. Also, I don't know how this announcement will affect their status for the FCS playoffs this year.

This is a bummer... It is one reason why I have an ounce of respect for NDSU. They are competitive at he FCS level, making them want to stay. The same might also be said arguably for Montana. I understand wanting to be taken seriously among at least the lower five conferences in the FBS, but we do in fact look like a farm system for them when our best players and teams continue to make the jump. Unfortunately, I get it, I just don't like it. With Georgia Southern, App state, CC all making the jump, it makes it seem like the jump is is a more prestigious goal than an FCS natty.

Also jealous that they can just add 9k seats like that with a lesser recent (~5years) run of success than EWU while we continue to postpone and extend a project that many of us have lost faith in.. Anyways, rant over.

Good article though, thanks for the heads up on CC. Bummer.

Well it helps that CCU's head coach is a billionaire and Chairman of TD Ameritrade.
