Final Projection:
Wing Royce Williams and promising senior Bryon Fulton will have to battle it out with the newcomers for minutes off of the bench. Coach Rahe will find plenty of depth and this team could end up going ten deep if all goes as expected with the freshmen. There is plenty of time for Weber State to get all of that sorted out. The Big Sky championship will likely come down to two games against Montana, in Ogden on January 25th and in Missoula on February 20th. More importantly, they will probably meet again on March 15th in the conference championship game where Weber State will attempt to finally get revenge on the Grizzlies.

Projected Postseason Tournament: NCAA

Montana came in at 92 as the only other top 144 Big Sky team, although I do think an argument could have been made for North Dakota to be in there somewhere.

That was a really good write up. I would agree pretty much with everything he said. One mess up I noticed is he said James Hajak was gone from the team. Im pretty sure James is still playing. We are going to need him this year. About 3 months to go.

Agreed...a couple of issues. As Wazzu has pointed out, Hajek is definitely in Ogden and with the team. He might not get a lot of mins, he is a great team leader and motivator. Most importantly he is a great representative in our community for the team.

Next...the walkons. Brady Borklund is on a mission, well, I was under the impression he was. He hurt his knee and was out the entire year last year. I don't think he ever practiced with the team. Also, what about Christian MacDonald from Oregon who signed with the Cats in early July? He isn't mentioned in this article. Good to see that JC Kennedy was mentioned. He is a good player and will do a great job playing for the Cats this season. Good enough to earn a scholarship? We will have to wait and see. Finally, who the heck is Aziz Leeks? He is from Vegas and averaged 3.5ppg. He is a solid defender and has the potential of becoming a big body. But this is the only article that mentions Leeks as being part of the team. Not saying he isn't, I'm just saying I have never heard of him. He is a 6-5 F.

They are right on with regard to our starting 5 and even our reserve 5 as being very very good.

Our next 5 of
Senglin
Williams (Gittens is a RS)
Hill
Fuller
Hajek

Could be starters at a lot of other schools in DI...YIKES!! Weber is deep and talented.

Yes. Leeks is walking on to the team as well. I confirmed that with the basketball office a few days ago. I really don't know anything about him. He must have some potential or they wouldn't bring him in a all. Many of these walk on players are doing it for the experience and to have a possibility of making our team, a JC team, or a small college team somewhere else. We have had a lot of them over the years and most of them get what they wanted out of the experience. They are valued team members while they are here and play a vital role on the scout team each week. :thumb:

Is Fulton not in the cards? Is he still hurt? I would think if he is healthy he would be our first post player off the bench unless Fuller is that much better than him? Does anyone know Fultons status? He seems like a good guy and a good teammate. I feel bad if he misses out on his SR year because he is hurt. He can really help us. Not many PF's can do what he does shooting from outside.

Fulton looked so bad last year. He was seriously a step and a half behind every play. H did not look like himself. I was not sure that he would still be on the team. Hill might be the first PF off the bench. I am not sure how it all works out but I am excited. Any chance that Fuller can play the 5?

Fulton is still with the team, as well. He is a good player, a good student, and a great teammate. Hopefully, he can get through his injuries and contribute a little more this year. Fuller is a 3/4 and not a 5. Who will back up who is completely in the air right now. I wouldn't even go out on a limb to say that any particular player would be red shirting. We only have 12 scholarship players and who knows what injuries might happen. It would all be a lot of speculation until sometime in November or December. The only viable candidate for taking an RS year is Gittens, but I'm not sure that it will be doable.

Fuller, is a highly skilled player, once he gets his legs back and his shot. He is a PF for the Cats, but has the ability to play the 3 and even the 2, if needed. He is a big who has great dribbling and ball control. Weber is extremely lucky to have him on the team. He can spread the defense with his outside shooting, he can drive, he has a lot of speed for a big, he will always be a step ahead of his defender, and is a tenacious defender. He was only home from his mission for about a month the first time I saw him play. You could tell he had a ways to go, but for where he was already, was pretty impressive. I've heard that he has been spending a lot of time in the gym getting stronger and finding his shot. In high school, he even played some point and center. He is a definite commodity that we won't see very often.
