• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Comparing how often coaches get to the dance

big sky
coach, yrs, appearances, %:

rahe, WSU: 12, 3, 25%
travis, UM: 4, 1, 25%
jones, UND: 10, 1, 10%

i dont think there are any other big sky to compare as the ones who have had appearances in the past decade are no longer coaching those schools. they use it as a stepping stone and take off from the sky.

non big sky
coach, yrs, appearances, %:
rose, byu: 13, 8, 62%
larry, utah: 7, 2, 29%

not sure who else to compare. we could try comparing each sky program overall and last 12 yrs. is the purpose to see who has the best coach or to see who is getting their money's worth? as for big sky rahe looks good with 25%. in the 23 seasons (1984-06), before rahe i believe we had just 3 appearances (13%).

1995: round of 32
1999: round of 32
2003: round of 64

i think we had 4 coaches between that 23 yrs and all were technically fired when they left ogden.

It wouldn't hurt to have salaries compared too. If Rahe and Travis are both at 25%, who is giving more bang for the buck.

Tinkle was 3/8 = 37% at Montana
Larry K was 2/2 100% at Montana
Baby Hayford was 1/6 17% at Eastern
Ken Bone was 2/4 50% at Portland State
Tad Boyle was 0/3 at UNC but is 4/8 50% at Colorado

All these coaches left while the getting was good.
