Yesterday I went back and compared our first game of the season to our last game and it almost looked like the same game.
In both games we got around a 10 point lead with 8 to 9 minutes to go. In both games we got that lead by attacking on offense and by having good ball movement. Like clock work in both games you see Jeremy and company spread out into the prevent offense. Against Pepperdine we got into the prevent offense with 8:30 to go up 59-51. Against UND we settled into it at 7:30 to go up 72 - 61. In both instances Jeremy consumes most of the possessions by dribbling 40 feet out and then a high screen or cutter comes to the top of the key with 8-10 seconds in the shot clock. Most of the time the prevent O leads to a forced shot in the corner or a wild drive and offensive foul. Our shot selection gets so bad during the prevent O poseesions. Why not just keep attacking the post?
Both games ended with Senglin throwing up NBA + distance contested 3 pointers. The prevent O has to go! You can see on the ESPN game tracker exactly when it starts. The team literally flat lines. I am sorry but for all of the growth and development that this team supposedly had, we played the last game exactly how we played the first game of the season.
Insanity = Doing the same thing and expecting different results.
