Concered for Season

Listened to Inslee yesterday on where he's at openig the state back up...dispite or inspite what the feds(Trump) will say . He alluded to extending the opening which is no surprise and it feels like WA State will be one of the last states to get opened for buisness. The school superintendent is an Inslee guy so what he says will be. Teachers at this point, at least the many I know from all over the state, are very concerned about school opening on time this Fall. I imagine the same goes for higher ed. NCAA looking at all posibilities of what Fall season sports may look like.
Inslee said the way we closed things down could be used conversly used for opening things up once all the precautionary measures will be in place (testing/masks/gloves/whatever). Schools was after gathering of 500 banned therefore will be secocond to last things open.
Therefore no spectators in stands for sports come fall could be in effect being more than 500 in one spot being the last thing to open.
*If this was the case, at least in WA State, would the school consider cancelling Fall Sports or play in an empty stadium?
**I'm concerned for this season.

I don't think there is anyone who knows right now and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. I am concerned, as well. Not only for no fans in seats, but for no fall sports or in person learning at campus. I think the consequences of that could be detrimental for EWU sports and campus in general, not to mention the City of Cheney. Can you imagine what businesses will do without students for an additional 8+ months?

I just hope the leaders that be don't make a decision to quickly in either direction. There is no reason to be cancelling the season or fans, this early. A little over a month ago, we were still packing stadiums and arenas (even though it feels like time is standing still). A month from now, most models show Washington to be without Covid related deaths. I think the phased approach announced yesterday, is the right choice. Unfortunately, that means fans in stadiums and kids in all levels of school, would be the last thing to get back.

Although concerned, I'm still very optimistic.

I'm not sure what things are going to be like in the fall but this CV19 isn't just going to go away. So many simularities to the 1919 Spanish flu and that had 3 distinct seperate waves. Look to Italy, Spain, Korea and Britain. It hit there before the U.S. and they don't have fans in the stands by August then I doubt football is going to happen. China would be a good indicator but their goverment/fake news lie so much! I saw this week where China claimed to have only 2,500 deaths in Wuhan (spelling?) but a reporter did some investigating and found they were delivering 3,500 urns a day to the local crematoriums. Keep are fingers crossed and stay safe!

In order to begin to get back to something we think of normal,
1st treatment, whether that be Hydroxychlorquin, remdisivir, or ?? Now there is not much that can be done other than keep the patient comfortable as possible and wait for the virus to run its course.
2nd a temporary immunity that may come from convalescent plasma of persons who have been infected and recover. This method has been used since the beginning of the last century.
And ultimately a safe and effective vaccine, but it sounds like that is a ways down the road.
Since this is a worldwide problem, I am impressed at the cooperation I hear about between many different countries so that may speed up the process'.
Being an "at risk" person for three different reasons I am especially anxious to see some progress so I can see my grandkids again without concern of dying.

I think the season will be fine. The problem is how the preparations for the season are affected. Ultimately, for legal and economic reasons, lockdowns will end. Shutting society down should only be a temporary fix... it should never have even been considered as a long term solution. We’ll hit a point where states will be forced to declare martial law and suspend all civil rights (which NO governor would want to do for many reasons) or let life continue as normal. I think the end game will be that it’ll be an issue of individual responsibility; people with compromised immune systems, susceptibility to respiratory issues, or the elderly will have to remain sort of checked out of society for a few more months while everyone else goes back to their regular lives. I’m sure there will still be a number of people who’ll remain uncomfortable being part of a large group for quite a while. So I’d suspect ticket sales will be quite hard next year for just about every program.
