Conference Auto Bid

So by my understanding, here is how the conference auto bid will work.

1.) EWU wins the auto bid if

EWU wins, MSU wins, and Cal Poly beats NAU
EWU wins, MSU loses

2.) MSU wins the auto bid if

MSU wins, EWU wins and NAU beats Cal Poly
MSU wins, EWU loses

3.) Cal Poly wins auto bid if

Cal Poly wins and EWU and MSU lose

4.) NAU wins auto bid if

NAU wins and EWU and MSU lose

***********************

Not sure if this is 100% but it is close based on my understanding. We are in the playoffs so it doesn't make that big of a difference, but may be the difference between MSU/EWU getting the 2/3 seed depending on who wins the auto bid.

First things first, we need to take care of our own business. I'd be terribly disappointed if we come out and play flat like we did last weekend with the Title on the line. The team could join only 5 other teams to have won the conference before, so it is a BIG DEAL to make sure we are hitting on all cylinders in Portland.

If we put in our work and win, everything else is sort of academic. I'd like to see Montana beat MSU because I don't want them seeded above us. Cal Poly is sort of our insurance; even if we win and MSU wins, we still get the auto with a Cal Poly win. :puke:

Agreed Dopa. In reality, for EWU and MSU the auto-bid won't matter if both teams win. We need to come out and destroy Portland State tomorrow. If we do, we are assured of a share of the Big Sky title, and anywhere from a 2-5 seed. That should be motivation enough to take care of business tomorrow, and I think the team will reapond to this challenge.

We had a higher Sagarin rating before last weeks games. Did the Cats go ahead of us because they ran up the score vs PSU? If that is the case, if we dominate in this game and the Cats squeek by will we go back ahead?

It looks like we have the auto bid. Now I guess we just have to wait until tomorrow to see if it does us any good.
