So the Hornets had a week off and came out and lost a game they should have won (Katz failed to find a way to ride a double digit lead to a victory, shocker) on the road against McNeese State and played Oklahoma fairly tough. The Oklahoma game can be seen on ESPN 3 replay (which I watched most of) and they actually looked competitive. I hope they can keep this motivated play up heading to EWU (3-8) and then ISU (4-7). Katz still needs to find ways to increase scoring by others besides TB.
Basically these two next games will determine the season for the Hornets. Both of these games are winnable and if they can win them both, the Hornets will have the inside track to the 6th seed of the BSC Tournament. (PSU can not qualify due to sanctions.)
EWU has been without their stud guard Glenn Dean for most of the season and have struggled without him. He is their leading scorer with 14.2 ppg having only played in 4 games thus far. EWU has 4 other players that average double digits but Dean is their playmaker. Katz will need to find a way to neutralize him if they want to win this one.
I don't know much about ISU but their leading scorer is a guard named Gilchrest who is averaging 16.2 ppg. He needs to be the focus in this game and if they can't stop him, the Hornets won't have a chance. ISU only has one other player averaging double digits.
