Conference Tourney

Well...right now it looks like we are a lock for the 2 seed heading into the conference tourney. Only way we finish 1st is if we win both games this weekend (likely) and UND loses both (not likely). I think we hold the tie breaker over Weber so only way we can finish 3rd is if we lose both and weber wins both, which isn't likely. In reality there really is no difference in the 2 or 3 seed this year anyways...

I think we have as good a shot as any to win the tourney this year. We are playing really well right now, have some great shooters, and 2 of the top 5 players in the conference on our front line. If we can get consistent Point Guard play we are going to be a really tough out...and Washington has given us what we needed at the guard spot the past few weeks...

The team looks good. I really enjoy watching these guys play. Super competitive bunch and their chemistry is great. They are playing sound defense and on offense they are matchup nightmares. They need to get through this road trip and will go into the tourney well-rested.

Well said. I think we've got a real shot. Tons of credit to Coach Hayford for elevating the program to where it is now. A 2 seed will really put us in the drivers seat.

Does anyone know if there will be replays available online? I'm going to be in Hong Kong and the time difference will have me in morning meetings during most of the games.

The Eagles have LOTS of trouble with quick teams. ND is just that type of team. IMO it will be a real upset if they can beat the other birds, possible though.

Weber State has quick guards and Telfair from ISU might be the quickest in the BSC. The EAGS defended them well.

This has the makings to be the 2nd best regular season EWU has ever had? Winning the last 2 games would put us at 22-9 before conference tournament...pretty awesome.

Lets go Eags!

Didn't see UND losing to Sac St. coming. That caught me off-guard. UND finishes the season against PSU. After watching PSU take us into triple-OT at Reese Court, I gotta believe that anything is possible this Saturday. Sole possession of 1st would be sweet  .

Current Standings:
Eastern Washington.......13-4....21-9
North Dakota...............13-4....18-9
Weber State................11-6....16-12
Idaho........................11-6....16-12
Montana State.............11-6....16-14
Montana....................10-7....15-15
Sacramento State..........9-8....12-16
Portland State.............7-10....14-14

If they do tie our hard working players share the title and receive conference championship rings...right?

Correct, a tied championship still earns us a banner, but not the top seed. It would be the same as our tied conference title with UND in football, they got a banner but we got the top seed.

Yep...a win guarantees a share of the conference championship, pretty great accomplishment, considering we were picked 7th in the preseason!

If the big sky schedule would have been even, UND would have had to come to Cheney, but avoided that trip altogether this year, things may have turned out differently had that happened.

It has been fun watching this team grow over the season. I agree about our issues with teams that have quicker guards, but Hayford has been tweaking the line up and playing time as the season rolled along. I think he has put the team in the possible position to make a run in the conference tournament. It sure is a fun time for eagle athletics.

North Dakota only up 2 at halftime against Portland St. right now. This could be a good finish. Here's the link.

Ok, now Eags need to take care of business.....

Yep, finish the regular season strong.

Surprisingly poor effort last night versus NAU. Not sure what to make of it. It just seemed like we couldn't do anything right. Wiley was a complete non-factor for the first time in a conference game all season. I sure hope all this gets corrected quickly. It's an awfully bad ttime to be in a slump!
