After a very hard-fought game in the snow against App St, Montana will represent the Big Sky in Chattanooga vs Villanova for the national championship on national TV next Friday.

The good news out of that is that we should get some money out of Montana's title!

I was rooting against Montana the entire game. It was a good game, but unfortunately the Griz won :(

Haha, me too. Other than the money it brings the conference and ultimately Sac State.
I wanted W&M in the game.

SH-now that Liberty is growing to add a 50,000 seat stadium, winning is paramount. What are your thoughts on bringing in athletes that aren't Christian and based solely on athleticism?

I know the question was directed at SH, but I felt compelled to share my thoughts.

It works for BYU, TCU, and a number of others, however, I think it may defeat the purpose of their intitutions.

I guess it also works for Notre Lame too...only in reverse

You mean a religious institution skirting their morals and doctrine for the almighty dollar? Say it ain’t so!

TCU is pretty secular now and at BYU if you are not a Mormon you will soon be one. They make everyone associated with the school and town drink the Kool Aid.

My wife graduated from Liberty and as an alumnae she just received her Liberty quarterly magazine, I must say I am impressed with the growth that place is undertaking. Falwell Jr. wants it to be the Baylor of the east.

We all know how Baylor does in football, atrocious and same for SMU another school that is pretty much secular now like TCU.

I am not going to start another thread on the Jizz, but rumors flying that Hauck is being pursued by San Jose State for its HC.

Hauck would be insane to leave UM for SJSU IMO... Yeah, SJSU made some progress in the last couple years under the wise old man. But, it's a deathwish...

He needs to float around until something like Colorado or UNLV opens up.

EDIT: Just googled BH and found this... I didn't know the UNLV coach was fired yet...

SMU will turn it around with June Jones now calling the shots.

I think Sanford (UNLV HC) was fired before the last game of the regular season. I don't think it would be wise for Hauck to leave UM; especially for either UNLV or especially SJSU. But if he is making a move, UNLV would probably be a better situation for him.

Given incentives, Hauck probably makes around $170,000. SJSU pays in the $375,000 range, probably a little more. UNLV and MWC teams pay in the $600,000+ range with incentives.

Hauck is from Mazzola so I can understand his reluctance to leave familiarity, but he could double his salary by at least taking the SJSU job, sign a 5 year deal and then worry about how he couldn't turn it around at SJSU. Or maybe he could turn it around.

You never grow unless you take a chance.

June Jones will score alot of points, but he is not defensive minded. SMU plays in the sweet Ford Field that was built on campus not to long ago.

1. UOP was originally a Methodist school like SMU, but nowadays, they don't go by that except for honoring local Methodist academic scholarships.

2. I agree that Hauck would be cr@zy to take the SJSU job. They stunk when UOP beat them in SJ on the last play of the game, and they STILL stink.

3. The death penalty was what did in SMU. They haven't recovered since, and haven't had a name player since Eric Dickerson.

4. Baylor has stunk since Grant Teaff left more than 20 years ago to become executive director of the AFCA.

5. There are exceptions at BYU. Notable among them is Jim McMahon. He was the ultimate rebel there. I'm surprised they didn't expel him for the stunts he pulled, though they would have been considered innocuous at any secular school.

The SJSU position is filled. Duke DC Mike MacIntyre will be named head coach.

No head coach experience. No name recognition. Spent entire career in the South East. No California connections. Strange pick for a California regional university.

From the powerhouse Duke Blue Devils football program. I read they offered the job to a few who declined, I am sure it was all about money especially in the out of this world Bay area cost of living.
