Hey, PSU fans. We just flew back into Montana from Portland yesterday evening and I wanted to stop by to say congrats for the win on Saturday. Here are a few of my take aways:

- Portland State is the real deal this year. Beating two FBS teams is not an easy task, and it's all the more impressive with your 1st year head coach. Although he's been at the head for a little more than a year from what it sounds like, he's really turned your program.

- Montana did not show up to play at all and your team took advantage of that. PSU is a VERY good team. That's what good teams do, they take advantage and punch the other team in the mouth. It was very disappointing traveling all that way only to see the Griz play as bad as they did. Credit to PSU for not letting up off the gas.

- Griz Nation travels very well, but it seems that the majority of the ones who travel are the less vocal ones who like to just sit on their butts and are not all that vocal. Being a fan who sits in the North End zone at Griz games, I was expecting Griz Nation to be rowdy at the PSU game but I guess my expectations were a little too high.

- Portland State has an awesome venue to play in, and it is easily the best stadium behind Washington-Grizzly Stadium. It's too bad that PSU can't fill the place up as I'm sure it would be rocking. My fiancee and I managed to get tickets to the Timbers game Thursday evening. We're both not soccer fans but wanted to experience our first Major League Soccer game, and we came away very impressed with the noise and passion. Talk about a thriller that went down to penalty kicks by the goal keepers! If PSU can keep winning and getting more fans to attend the games, Providence Park will become a very difficult place for visiting teams to play. Very fun environment.

- As for Portland, we loved our visit! We found that people in Portland are crazy friendly. It felt like a bigger version of Missoula (People like to compare Missoula as a tiny version of Portland). We didn't expect that from a big city. We visited the Portland farmers market on PSU's campus Saturday morning and had trouble moving from vendor to vendor because so many people were talking to us. We had this experience during our whole time in Portland since last Tuesday. We had a great time exploring the city too. Wednesday was spent the day over in Cannon Beach and then came back to town and had dessert at the Portland City Grill. We were estatic to have a window seat with a view of the city and river at night. Thursday we jumped around town to different restaurants and shops, checked out the rose garden and hiked up to Pittock Mansion and then bought tickets from a bar tender at Rock Bottom to the Timbers game. Friday we spent a little more time checking out other places around town. Overall, we couldn't have had a better experience in Portland.

Thanks for the Portland suggestions during our visit and congrats on the good win on Saturday. Good luck to the Vikings the rest of the way and hope they keep making some noise heading into the playoffs!
