Congratulations on the W

I'd also like to congratulate Eagles for the win. You guys have a great team this year and would not be surprised to see EWU make it to Frisco. Had a good time at the game, although the score wasn't quite to my liking.

Side note, I feel for you guys and your stadium situation. I know I'm preaching to the choir here and I'm not trying to be a dick, but Roos Field really, really needs an update/expansion. For such a good program and a growing fan base, it's sad that you guys have the equivalent of a high school stadium. Even though I dislike EWU football and want you guys to lose to Montana, I do hope that you guys are able to get your expansion that you've been wanting for years now. A great program and growing fan base deserve it, and it will only make our rivalry even better. :thumb:

Good luck the rest of the way, Eagle fans. Go Griz!

Appreciate the kind words, Griz fans.

I do have a curiosity question for the two of you. Obviously, MSU will always be your biggest rival for many reasons, but how close is EWU to being equal? It reminds me of the rivalry between Washington and Oregon. U Dub has the instate rival in Wazzu, but if you ask any Husky fan, they'd much rather beat Oregon.

Speaking only for myself; it is already equal / equivalent. I have watched EWU teams (dating back to Zornes and Wulff) for many years and viewed them as a respected, regional rival. BB's teams have continued that competitveness and quality.

I'll agree with what's been said above first of all. Nice game, clearly the better team Saturday and I hope you guys get a stadium to go with your team. Please don't read that as a slam.

As far as the MSU vs EWU rivalry I think it's almost impossible for me to compare the two (speaking just for myself). Griz fans just expect to beat the Cats in just about every sport just about every year. Even the years when the Cats are good and might worry us a little, I think we still feel pretty confident the Griz will come out with a W. EWU on the other hand always means a game I can get excited for in terms of a real challenge and a way to see where our team is at. It also scares the crap out of me because it could very well be a loss any given year. EWU will never be as big for fans I feel like just because of the fact that UM/MSU are the only two shows in the state and the rivalry is so old. I think the excitement is growing though for EWU. I dread the day we play you guys in football, mens basketball, womens basketball and even this first round playoff for soccer.

Basically short answer is I don't think it will ever be equal for fans, but I think it may already be better for competition.

As a means of comparing the rivalries between the Griz and either Bobcats or Eagles is it safe to say playing the Bobcats is kind of like beating up on your little brother as compared to competing with a respected peer?

I don't know if I'd make that blanket statement. Years like this year yes. Obviously the last few weeks have been rough for the Griz, but not 0-5 in conference rough. Some years the game really is meaningful though like a couple years ago when the Griz went and got a win in Bozeman while MSU was ranked #1. I think that win wa more satisfying than if the Griz would've won on Saturday. This year I think a win Saturday would've been more satisfying. At this point a win over the Cats this year is pretty much expected. Hopefully that makes sense with what I'm trying to say.
