Looks like a great pick-up for Coach Murrell and the Viks:

PORTLAND, Ore. – Courtney VanBrocklin, a transfer from Boise State, has joined the Portland State women's basketball team.

The 5-foot-7 VanBrocklin played her freshman season for the Broncos, finishing fourth on the squad in scoring at 7.4 ppg. She was also fourth in rebounding at 4.0 rpg and dished out 59 assists, second most on the team.

Originally from Deming, Wash., VanBrocklin played in all 30 games for Boise State, and was named to the WAC All-Freshman team at the end of the season. She shot 42.2 percent from the floor, second on the team, and led the Broncos in three-point shooting (31.3 percent) and free-throw shooting (82.6 percent).

As a senior at Mount Baker High School, she was the top scorer at the class 2A level in Washington, averaging 23.2 ppg. She also averaged 5.3 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.0 assists per game on her way to being named the Northwest Conference Player of the Year.

VanBrocklin finished second at Mount Baker in career scoring (1,005 points) behind former McDonald's All-American and national high school player of the year Susan Anderson (1986). She also left with the school record in steals (308).

"Courtney is a phenomenal athlete who plays exceptionally well at both ends of the court. We are very excited to have her join our team," said PSU Head Coach Sherri Murrell.

Due to NCAA transfer rules, VanBrocklin will sit out the 2009-10 season and still have three years of eligibility. She is expected to contend for major minutes in the backcourt in two years when the Vikings will lose point guard Claire Faucher, who is entering her final year at Portland State.

looks to be an awesome backcourt with current guards (sans Faucher) next year, will run differently I am sure!
