I have played and/or watched football for several decades now.... and I have NEVER seen anywhere near the amount of cramping issues that I've seen in the last couple of weeks. Every game I turn into, there goes a guy down with a cramp. Many games, incl. Eastern v. OSU and Portland State v. Cal, have had 5 or more guys leave a game for cramping.
There is just no way to account for this by saying "it's weather related," and the very idea of having 5 seasons worth of cramping injuries in two weeks is well outside of a statistical anomaly. That leaves one rather obvious culprit, nutrition...or better yet, supplementation. What's new that these guys are taking that could cause something like this? Everyone takes creatine, so that's not new. I usually stay pretty close to trends in this area, but I just don't know what can be causing all of this.
