Crosgile leaves team

Wow. That is a blow. He was one of coaches top recruits. We will miss his scoring and leadership. Hopefully coach can get him back. That would make the rest of the season a bit tougher. Good thing we have coaches other big time recruit Chiverton back tonight!

If he left the team today they wouldn't take him off till maybe they got back.
If he truely left the team wonder how he is getting home?

Thumbing it? :thumb:
Greyhound?
Team Bus? :fuel:

So is this the big bump in the road this year? Last year I though that the season turned when the Ehlo episode went down. Maybe it was just a tougher part of their schedule, but they sure looked like they lost some steam when that all went down.

Hopefully coach can keep him on the team. Given what coach thinks of him (and from the GoEags site):

“Justin Crosgile is a very gifted point guard, and he can also play off the ball as well. As Justin learns to fit his game into the Eastern offensive system, the sky is the limit for just how good he can be. Justin works extremely hard every single day -- he lives in the gym, loves the game and loves his teammates. He is willing to do whatever he needs to do to be the best that he can be.”

With Chiverton finally back it would be nice to keep our leading scorer as well. Does anyone have an update? Is it official?

So, does anyone know the scoop on this? I don't want to be too presumptuous, but you gotta wonder whether a kid that has been on a different number of teams in his college career is the real team player type. Again, I don't know anything about the situation, but that was my first thought when I saw he had left the team.

Having a 3 year old and being cross country has too be tough, but on the other hand why make the decision to come all this way to play there had to be other offers and you had to know what you were getting into coming out here.

Wish him the best and hope he get's that degree.

Agreed...wish him the best.

Wish him the best... My guess is that Daniel Hill will get thrown in pretty quickly. Will be interesting to see how he handles that.

Daniel Hill played considerable minutes last night. Very raw, but will be a good player given time as will all the young players on the team.

Justin has decided to stay at Eastern and finish his degree, then move back to New Jersey in the summer. Will not return to the basketball team.
OK then the question now becomes . . . what was the real reason for quitting the team???
Not trying to start something, but the question has to be asked. :coffee:

Good question. I am thinking he may be coming back! That would be great. He was our leading scorer and one of coaches top recruits. I would think that coach would take him back if he wanted to come back and showed contrition. I can't imagine coach not wanting him. Perhaps an opening!

If he comes back that is fine, but there better be a great reason for him coming back/leaving . . .I am never a fan of kids quitting and then letting them come back just to be self serving and getting more wins.
Doesn't send a good message to the guys on the bench and to future EAGLES! That is stuff that get's used against you during recruiting.

Think the program may have dodged a bullet.

Three UTEP men's basketball players have been dismissed from the program for gambling on athletic events, but the school said there is no evidence of point shaving or betting on Miners games.

Leading scorer McKenzie Moore and reserves Jalen Ragland and Justin Crosgile have been kicked out of the program. All three received an automatic one-year suspension and will also lose a year of eligibility. Moore and Ragland are juniors and Crosgile is a senior, meaning they won't play for the Miners again.
