When EWU and PSU came to town 4 weeks ago, it sure looked like Eastern was the better team. What has happened to them? Maybe their lack of depth is catching up with them.

How many wins will it take to win the regular season?

From what I have seen, EWU has two players (Harvey and Jois) that if off on any given night could really struggle to win games. There is no doubt that EWU has two of the best players in the conf, but without the rest of the supporting cast it's a real struggle to win.

Weber has a great opportunity to separate themselves this week, with a extremely difficult 4 game road trip coming up against 4 rivals, Weber cannot afford to drop a home game.

At home, the Hornets are pretty feisty. I had no idea that Mikh Mikinney would be as good this season. He really didn't show much last year. But it is pretty funny, as Catcat pointed out to me, that the Hornets are 1 game out of 1st place. hahah

PSU just beat EWU by 11 at EWU. That moves them both to 8-8 in the Sky. That muddies the water a little on the tail end of who might qualify for the tourney. PSU got a really solid crew of refs, headed by Chris Rastatler, that helped keep the home floor advantage to a reasonable level. I didn't see any phantom wistles, they only called what they actually saw, they didn't make ticky tack calls on either end, their no calls were solid, and the game flowed. I hope that we can get that sort of officiating when we go on our last roadie. :twocents:

Right when I think Eastern is turning the corner they go and get beat at home by 11. Look for a really slow game when we play them up there in Cheney. They are going to do everything they can to limit Weber State offensive touches (not that it has worked the last two times the Eagles and Cats have tangled). PSU got a really balanced effort from their starters. Kyle Richardson has really come on after Aaron Moore "left" the team.

I think that the loss by Eastern last makes both PSU and Eastern really desperate for a win on their road swing to UNC and North Dakota. I would not be surprised to see each of them pick up a road win this week. Neither PSU or Eastern are very deep. I think we should press them and push the ball on them and see if they can hang with us. It looks like will face two teams next week fighting for their tournament lives.

Looking at the remaining schedule, 5 teams are in the drivers seats for tourney spots:
WSU, UNC, ND, Montana, and Sac St.
EW and PSU seem to me to be the two teams most likely to round out the 7.

I think that the Bengals have a chance to sneak in there. I think they will win there home games this week. If they can that done and get one at PSU or EWU I think they are in too.

I'm pulling for ISU to make it. I hope they show SUU just how stupid they were for letting coach go. I'm pulling for SUU to win a game as well. Just because. I'm also pulling for anyone who plays UNC.

Yes, IF ISU can take two at home this week and then win one on the road next week they are probably in. But they are 1-7 on the road this year so far with their one win coming at SUU. So I'm not expecting a win by them in either Cheney or Portland.
