Well one of your problems is, oldrunner took his PC and went to the football board....he hasn't posted in your basketball forum since September.....When you lose your most prolific poster, it is going to appear as if the interest has dropped off the edge of the Earth.....and you can't blame it on me cuz I haven't pissed him off in a couple of years.....

Olds is a prolific poster on this site, pretty funny to call that out. I think the 'Cats will be fine in the Big Sky, so maybe Olds has just decided to take a break until we get a few wins and everyone calms down.

I'm not CALLING anything out...just POINTING out the fact that oldrunner hasn't posted in the basketball forum since September...when talking about the current interest level of WSU BBall, this could be a reason why.....he has posted in the football forum numerous times during his hiatus from basketball....BTW, you don't have to tell me about olds, I have 5 times the posts that you have on this board....

Congratulations for posting more than me. And congratulations also for your incredible English deduction skills--you were able to get offended by reading into something that I didn't mean. Hope the New Year can bring you some satisfaction in whatever it is that makes you happy.

My level of interest in Weber State basketball is the same as it always is, high. I am a fan of Weber State Basketball, the highs and lows.

But......there is only too much BS one person can take and there's only so many times you can be accused of being something you're not and doing things you dont until enough is enough.

And enough for me has come.

It's just become too much of a chore to WANT to be on this site anymore.

You just summed up how I feel about WSU basketball in its entirety.

Wildcat, can you honestly say this program has grown from where it was 8 years ago? Not trying to fight, just asking an honest question. Like you, I have my season tickets and will go to a lot of games. I give quite a bit each year to the WCC and WSU, and love talking Weber State Sports (we get along a lot better lately on the football side but regardless I have always appreciated your concern for and loyalty to Weber State Athletics; including Basketball as well). But, we have become like Prometheus pushing the rock up the hill and nevER reaching the next level and every OOC it's like we are starting over.

Randy is a great guy and good coach. But he's been making some really head scrwtching decisions lately. The Johnson transfer really destroys our ability to recruit instate (kills the community factor for a lot of fans) or the unique region, and that hurts our chances to build support. But, what killed me was pushing out Gittens for the unknown. He gets a gift and wasted it on a kid who is already gone. last year he desperately needed experience and bodies but in his chase for the next great freshman forgot about a developed, experienced, committed senior. Why show loyalty to someone who isn't loyal to a kid who has worked his guts out for you?

Part of my declining interest of posting here is the whining, backbiting on the same topics over and over. And like many others I'm busier that I was years ago. I still have my season tickets for our family and we enjoy going to as many games as we can.

Happy New Year everyone!

I understand that sometimes people complain about Rahe and/or the team's performance, but that's what fans do--they have passion, and passion sometimes causes strong emotions, both good and bad. Haven't you ever got on other universities' fan boards? If you have, you know that it's typical for fans to go negative sometimes because they are frustrated that a team and/or a coach is not performing to the level they feel they should. That said, the 'Cats had a strong start to the Big Sky season with two good road wins. Hoping we have a great rest of the season.

Reasonable people can disagree.

Tal to answer your question, no we have not grown from 8 years ago. I think that is where most of my personal frustrations with the program come in.
You have mentioned Rahes assistants and I think the steam that made the engine go was Phil Beckner. Look at the development of the players under him. Obviously Dame but Scotty & Tres are all playing professionally. Mook & Dev Berry also had stints playing pro in some form. Even guys who only trained with Phil for a little bit before he left got the "Beckner Effect" like Kendhyl Hill and Bolomboy as both are playing overseas.
I think our guys were just better developed athletes then they are now. Rahe still had all the same coaching things then that frustrate us now (IE cant break a press, slow the ball down etc...) but our guys worked through that better with phil..
Multiple times i saw Rahe and phil in a yelling match on the sidelines and I havent seen that since he left. I dont think we will find another assistant to challenge rahe, or the players for that matter, like Phil did. There is a reason Dame still trains with him to this day.
Just my :twocents:
