"He’s in the planning stages, but he’s got big ideas for the party, including WSU’s spirit squad, the marching band, giveaway drawings, autographed memorabilia, “Damian Lillard NBA Draft 2012” T-shirts, closing a street to watch the live broadcast on a giant screen at 5 p.m. and having local restaurants and businesses offer “Damian discounts” after 6 p.m. :clap:

Gardiner said he is developing a “Damian Lillard NBA Draft celebration” Facebook page and that the city and school would send out further information through their websites and newsletters.

“One of my goals as student president is connecting Ogden and Weber State better,” he said.

Gardiner, 24, an accounting student, also wants to encourarage WSU students to support the school’s sports teams. :thumb:

“Athletics means a lot to engage our students and build that pride in the school,” he said.

Gardiner even hopes to invite ESPN to send cameras to catch Lillard’s fans’ reaction as he is drafted. “Damian deserves all of this,” Gardiner said."

Wow...a proactive student president. Has Pete Owen, Brody Barnes, or Kyle Poll been reincarnated? This type of excitment and planning is reminiscent to Stinky McGee and the hours spent at the Bell Tower.

Next poll should be, whether or not the student president will maintain this excitment throughout the year. I hope he does. Good for him. I like his excitment.

Yes, he has been invited and the whole family will be going to support him. This is soooo awesome! We are very proud of Damian. :-D

I think this is really amazing! Not only for Damian, but more importantly, that Ogden and Weber State are doing something special for one of its own to highlight, honor, and remember his achivements accomplished here in Ogden. I'm proud of Damian and all that he has accomplished. He deserves only the best.

My sister (Dame's Mom) and I are putting together a scrapbook of all of this for Damian. I was wondering if someone is able to get one of those bands, we like to include it in the scrapbook. I printed the flyer for the Damian Day page, but having one of those wristbands would be a great addition to that page.
