Damian Lillard NBA Draft Profile

It amazes me, how little some of these, so called, experts know and yet still write as if they do. It is clear that this guy has seen nothing more than a highlight video of Damian. Truely, I am thinking that he has just pulled some old articles toghether and spewed something out that he thinks is reality. Anyone who has whitnessed the transformation Damian has undergone from last year to this, could not be saying some of the things he is spouting as fact, in reguard to his weaknesses.

Here's a story from the Standard-Examiner that will be in tomorrow's paper. Lillard talks about how he hopes to be a top-10 pick. ;-)

Nice story!! I only hope the best for Damian. Of course, being from Utah, I would like to see him become a Jazzman, but no matter where he ends up, will always cheer for him.

Jazz don't currently own a lottery pick. So unless we still away GS pick or trade away for a lottery pick it's not gonna happen.

So, I take it Dame didn't finish up his degree this semester? I heard he was on track to graduate this semester. I guess he got too distracted with things. Does he have plans to finish up his degree later on?

He said at his press conference that he is just two classes short of graduating.

Post from Chris Ford, ESPN's NBA draft analyst:

"Next stop in the draft workout tour: Oakland to see Damian Lillard this morning along with a couple of NBA teams

Lillard going through one of the hardest workouts I've ever seen. Grueling. Zero questions about what kind of shape he's in.

Lillard hitting just about every shot here despite being run into the ground by trainer.

Great workout today for @Dame_Lillard Such a hard worker, Great shooter, Good athlete. Strongly believe he's a Top 10 pick."

Good find, Pitate!

Everyone is going to find out what we already know. With Damian, what you see is what you get. He is the real deal. Whoever gets him is getting a steal, at any price.

He deserves any and all things he will be getting.

Not a great follower of the NBA, but the Jazz still have a 28% chance to get Golden State's pick. I think if another lottery team moves ahead of GS (when they do that bouncy ball thing they do), then they drop to #8 and the Jazz get their spot. They are so intent on getting a pick, they are willing to make a trade with the Jazz just to cover themselves on that 28% this year.

Given Ford's report of Dame's workout in Oakland and the recent news that they are willing to trade with the Jazz, you have to wonder if Lillard is the guy they so desperately want at #7 or #8.

BTW, you can't believe how I would love to see Damien in a Jazz uniform, but this news seems to mean it won't happen, dang.....

My favorite line from this Draft Profile (they have a hyperlink to a SL Trib article):

(Ignore the stuff about Jimmer -- journalists lazily compared Lillard to Jimmer all season, though their games were only somewhat similar.)

and this:

In Lillard, you have one of the nation's best scorers while simultaneously being the most efficient/responsible with the ball. So there's good reason at one point during the season, Ken Pomeroy (CBB stat god) tweeted something to the effect of, "Lillard might be having the best basketball season of any person at any level, ever."

Assumptions aside. He didn't get distracted at all. Because he was granted another year of eligibility, his remaining classes were spread out to cover the extra year. Finding out he was a first round draft pick made it easier to come out now. He is taking his classes online to finish.

We, in this family, have a motto of "Education first = Knowledge always". He's getting his degree, no worries there. :-D

Qwerky, that atitude toward education is refreshing to hear, it is sad, but not all families feel that way.

I look for great things in Damian's future.

You know I wondered about a comment that Coach Rahe made during Damian's press conference about hoping he didn't screw him up too much- wondered why he'd say that being such a great coach. But now I see why...I have read so many analysis of Damian's game and most are calling him a shoot-first guard and questioning whether his passing game even exists. While we all know that he was relied on to do so much scoring this past season due to key injuries, it's apparent others don't know this and see it as a weakness. However Damian has always been a very determined kid and will succeed because of all the doubters--it fuels him. :twocents:
