Word inside the Standard-Examiner newsroom is that Damian Lillard will miss the remainder of the season with a Jones stress fracture in his fifth metatarsal, which he suffered against Tulsa in the second half last night on the road. Although WSU has yet to give an offical release, WSU beatwriter Roy Burton has been told from a source close to the situation that Lillard is done. Check out the story. http://www.standard.net/topics/sports/2010/12/17/broken-foot-shelves-wildcats-lillard-season
What a terrible blow to WSU and their season.... You heard it here first.

Yeah. It absolutely sucks. Now I'm just curious if he's going to be eligible to get this season back. Redshirt it perhaps...

Just heard the team isn't even back from their game at Tulsa yet. Still on the busride home from the airport, but I guess they are going straight to the hospital to get an official diagnosis on Lillard.

If this is true and Lillard cant play, I still will not give up hope, we took Tulsa into Overtime and lost by 2 without our TOP 2 SCORERS, Look what Hughey, Porter and Fulton did, its true that losing Lillard is a blow, and that others will need to step up, well I believe they will, injuries might uncover a diamond in the rough.

has Weber ever lost their star player before? I know Patten had the mask on for a bit, but he never really missed a game.

They haven't seen injuries this plentiful in some time. Not only Lillard, but both Hughey and Bamforth are questionable at best for the next 2-3 games.

It's official now. Done for the year. Jones fracture in his fifth metatarsal. I'll have Roy Burton's story on it up shortly.

I have heard from direct sources that Weber is working on a medical Redshirt. I don't think they would be working on this if they didn't think they had a shot at it.

Sorry to hear that. I was really looking forward to seeing Lillard and Cherry go against each other this year, with both of them playing so great out there.

I wonder how far into the season you can go and still get a medical redshirt... Steve Sir for NAU stuck around for like 18 seasons it seemed..so there may be a shot that Lillard gets a medical redshirt.

Not going to be easy watch lillard in the bench walking in crutches. It's going to be hard to compete without him. I hate that it happened to him. Will he be missed, heck yes. As you know, I'm pretty optimistic. Could this turn out to be a blessing in desguise??? Can the team respond knowing they have to play that much harder and not rely on Lillard to save them? Can he be able to coach the younger players from the sideline? Can he get his medical redshirt, and keep him here at wsu that much longer? Will this help him when he returns to play like there is no tomorrow? Maybe this will be a temporary setback? I hope that it is.. I love lillard, almost cried when I learned of the extent of the injury.

i think it is possible. big sky play is a different game. we'll see...we have a difficult first 3 games. lillard will be missed. will hughey take over? does morris step it up? porter could be a secret weapon. it will still be a fun/exciting season but for now i think most are pretty depressed especially with the byu game a few days away.

Sorry to hear about Lillard. I guess better a broken bone than a torn ligament in the long-term scheme of things. Weber State is far from done even with Lillard injured. With Rahe coaching and WSU's depth, I'm not going to stick a fork in the Wildcats. Your other injuries (Bamforth...Hughey?) aren't of the permanent type, are they?

Fear not, Ogden. You'll be in the thick of things as Big Sky play comes around. I have no doubts about this.

I was listening to the Pre-Game as we were rolling in to town, did anybody else hear Rahe talk about Lillards Redshirt possibilities. He sounded very confident, and there will be more games scheduled for March to make it happen as well, and will put Dame under the percentage of games played, he needs to qualify for a medical Redshirt.

Thoughts on Lillard sporting purple and white for 2 additional years. He has the potential to be the best Wildcat ever. It looks like it is going to happen.
