December 13th, 1997

Yes, I was there. The "phantom call" game. That game put an end to an incredible season. The worst part about it was learning years later of Tressell's indiscretions while at Youngstown.

I remember that game, being a young undergrad at the time. That was a magical season, and was the big step our program needed to get to where we are today. As much complaining I do about our stadium I am sure glad we are playing on campus instead of Albi.

I was there. We were on a roll going into that game and just never quite got our offense going like it had been. Horrible non-fumble called a fumble that cost us the game. If there was instant replay back then we might have won the natty in 97.

That was a great year!

anyone else here go to that game?

Funny thing is the set up to this game is a lot like that one. We were playing fantastic going into that game and YSU was grinding out narrow wins. On paper, it looked like a bit of a mismatch. And then we lost.

Yep I was there in the press box nice and warm. Not one of my find college memories. We had the better team just could not get it going...and that call.... :tothehand:
Can't wait to get them in Cheney this time.

that team had some incredible players! Harry Leons, Chris Scott, Rex Prescott, Derek Strey, Jeff Ogden, Kevin Peterson, Jim Buzzard to name a few.

Mike McKenzie and Jesse Hardt too IIRC.

That team had some exceptionally talented players on it. I remember when Eastern did it's "100 for 100" team a few years back...a lot of the '97 team was included in that list.
