Dee Events Center Attendence

I have often wondered to myself way we can't fill the DEC every game. The reason isn't due to a bad team. That's almost never the case. Its because the games aren't made public enough. I would like for us to make a list of ideas to how to improve attendence numbers. Before anything, maybe the University needs to invest more on marketing. Have to invest to make up a big profit on sells and revenue. It would be cool if someone could get big signs to put up along Harrison Blvd. It would be cool to see a banner strung across Harrison and Washington or some locations. Having letters mailed to all residences via mail. It would also be cool if at campus people would hand out flyers and have a set up on campus that announces home games. The signs on the curb don't cut it. Another idea is to put big banners over at the Village for the students. The radio and TV is a great idea. I don't see why we don't use the resources we have. We need to get the word out before for games, not just the day of, but a good three or four day notice is great! Lets put some ideas together and fill up the DEC on a regular basis!!

I agree...there is absolutely no reason why our attendance figures shouldn't be higher. I'm really excited about the energy our new AD is bringing to this discussion (I will say that I was a huge fan of Coach Graybeal, but he just didn't hold his marketing staff accountable, but he did a good job in other areas). However, there is little he can do with the twits on his staff. Countless times members of the community, alumni, various students, and fans have approached specific individuals with ideas, but nothing happens. I can't believe that I haven't seen more being done this year, especially with the talent that was coming back (football, Mens BBall, Womens BBall, and Volleyball). Before anything can be done the department staff need to actually work, be held accountable, or replaced. Enough is enough. In all actuality nothing significant has been done since Tingey and Chad left 6 years ago!!! Yes, Kim did some promotions last year, but that was to save his job (good guy though). Anyway, I don't know why there aren't more originial ideas coming from the department, and now they are even changing the song from Joker and the Thief. That best be played next Friday!

Everyone should write letters to the AD requesting that Joker and the Theif be retained.
