Defensive line

Once again I saw a great effort from the defensive line. The D-line is told a job and the linebacker gets the sack. Who gets the glory, “The linebacker”, the CB for an interception? How about how that happened, or how they got it, that’s never told. What happens when you dominate the line, you eliminate the run game, “Then the defensive backs can expect the pass and they can play a little bit looser, which gives them an advantage out there. It makes a lot of things easier on defense. Some athletes might be upset at not being asked for a quote after the game or at not seeing their names in lights after recording two more sacks or seven more tackles, but not these guys.
"[The lack of publicity] doesn't bother a defensive lineman The respect of the team in the locker room is more important... It wouldn’t hurt for someone in the stands to say great job o-line, that was awesome d-line because the newspapers have no respect for the either, because it’s not a glorified position.
Some guys get their name in the newspaper and the team knows they didn't do so well or didn’t deserve it. When was the last time you heard from the QB, RB, and Receiver mention in their interview “I couldn’t have done it without my line giving me time. Or a linebacker saying it was a team effort. (Rarely)"Respect is very important to these guys. We have a great defensive this year.
I personally made it my goal to say great job to all these guys. I wished I would have seen more people do the same, like two would have been nice. You don’t have to approach the QB, RB, or linebacker. Because you would have to stand in line. Yes the trenches is a lonely job, but damn it people, give a least a little thanks to the men up front. Remember,
“So go the trenches so go the game”

Most players acknowledge good line play, however, if the line fails, it sure smells up everything down stream.

I understand that the offense was held to the basic plays. Given the limited play calling, how would you judge the offense and defense play DM?

You said it correctly. “The line players”. The players see the line. The fans see the smelling part. Sadly to say, if we as fans understood the game better I think we would enjoy it more. We see the great catches, run, and interception, fumble recovery, sacks. And the first thing we look at is what, “Who did it” that’s all we see. Now how it happened, but who got the ball.
The offensive line looks good; they will be able to hold their own. I think the cards are still out on two of these guys on what they will do. “Names being withheld”. The QB looks solid. The receiver “forgot his name” the tall boy…Now he’s the boy to look out for this year. He will give us a lot to cheer about.
The defensive, The starting players they have in there right now. This is the best 4 I have seen since the great 4 at LSU lead by Thomas.”A little bias”. With the bookend brothers and Dem at the three and 94 up the middle, there will be some great excitement from those four, unless the coaches decide to jack with the chemistry there. “Which he will all coaches do” They have to justify their job by what they call tweaking the players a little. The linebackers look awesome, but then again the great 4 up front accommodate these linebackers. But these are great players especially in Phillips; this white boy can play…
The rest are good average players. I am worried about the dept.
Memo to the coaches, the players you have in there right now. DON’T JACK WITH THE CHEMISTRY’.
I have to go to Germany on Tuesday for 4 weeks. “SUCKS”. Tonight’s practice will be the last one for me. “If I can get there”
Keep this thread up and going, this will be my only way of communication, except from my cell to my kid.

I would be more than happy to.
The defensive line has plays as well as the offensive. When a play is called each player is to go to a certain spot. If they miss the call, or confused where to go, usually a big play will happen. As we saw in the scrimmage when the 2s and 3s came in. The starting 4 we have as of Saturday has all the plays down, as an ex-player I, its fun to watch these players trying to get to the right place. When the next set of d-line man came in they looked a little out of place, that’s just not knowing the plays yet. So when I say the dept, meaning that they don’t have the plays down yet. I feel the coaches have 5 they can count on as of today, as they get closer to game time I’m quite sure we will be up to 6. (I hope).
The defensive will be just fine…

MY MISUNDERSTANDING. I thought you meant Department, not depth. Of course it is monday and I'm not very lucid right now. more coffee might help. might not.

So--- four weeks? does that count the home opener on thursday night?

I hope to be back by the 5th game. Should be flying in on that Friday or Saturday. If everything goes well, sorry for the mis-spelled Abbreviations. My fingers are too fat. Or I’m just a dumb A--…Didn’t like school no how. Didn’t go to College to learn, went to play football. Dreams of going on…My bad…wrong decision...Players at ISU needs to understand that very few go on…but don’t kill the dreams of doing so, just keep your heads in the books just in case….

The lines are, believe it or not, are my favorite units (along with linebackers). Look for #71, my man Lance Cartwright to tear it up down there!!! Kick ass Lance!
