Thoughts on if the 4-2-5 returns for 2016?

It's been trendy the last couple of years in both pro and college. Watching the Cardinals Deone Buchanon the last couple of weeks reminds me a bit of how Todd Raynes was utilized at Rover.

The scheme makes sense against up-tempo, spread offenses which you see more and more of, but you still have to tackle and be disciplined.

As critical of the defense that I've been this season, I think this may hold merit.

I'm optimistic as well. It's also important to remember that we replaced a DC with decades of experience with a first timer. Schmeds and the entire staff will learn from this year and improve.

Case in point, Seahawks. You don't play single high safety, w eight in the box unless you have a crazy fast FS and CBs that can press.

Lack of speed on defense as well as at RB and WR. Teams dared EWU to go deep all year. Losing Shaq was a killer.

Hard to give much input, because we didn't see any more 4-2 than we did 4-3 or 3-4, or even 3-3. We were very diversified in how we lined up on defense. Unfortunately, we never found anything that worked.

I'm not typically a fan of nickel base defenses. If you are going to run one, you better be tough as nails with your front 6, if not you get run over. Additionally, you better have three safeties who can play well, since you have 3 of them on the field. We were one Todd Raynes away from essentially having no serviceable safeties.

Speaking of Shaq and I may be wrong but I didn't see him introduced with the Seniors.
