Dewayne Russell transfer....the plot thickens!

I was thinking about this situation yesterday during the NAU-Grand Canyon U game. I wonder how ugly this is going to get between the three parties involved? Does it play out that he is allowed to transfer to GCU but not allowed to play against NAU next year? Does Dewayne push the issue and file a complaint to the NCAA? Does the NCAA listen to an under the radar newcomer like GCU? Has GCU been meddling in trying to convince Dewayne to transfer? Does Jerry Colangelo's fat wallet do some talking? This has NCAA intervention written all over it and is much more juicy than the average NAU sports coverage.

I've noticed that an Arizona Republic sports page writer (Obert) has started a Grand Canyon University athletics column/section. Keep your eyes open there, folks.

So it's official huh? He is indeed going to GCU? That little punk...I hope we destroy them next year   Good thing NAU released him to all school except those on the schedule for next year :coffee: Can't wait to get the popcorn and see how this turns out

And now two of their players are kicked off the team and one more suspended...
Will Russell regret it now that GCU is set back and loosing their leading scorer???

and a replacement for him? Tate de Laveaga...

De Laveaga is a 6-foot-3 guard out of Scottsdale.
De Laveaga led the team with 18.9 points, 4.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game. De Laveaga was ranked as the No. 2 guard in the state of Arizona entering his senior season.
